I'm confused... why are "thread games" against the rules of the forum and get locked. I can't see anything against them in the rules posting...

I think you guys are bluffing, but I'll avoid the blocking just in case:

Since Czar started his B-Czar (bizarre, geddit?  :-\ ) game, I wondered if anyone was up for a game of Mornington Crescent. So that newbies can start more easily, lets keep to the simplified version: Stovold?s Defence is still allowable during Forward Triangulation, but Back Doubling may only be attempted after a Northern Approach.

I'll start with:

Just so you guys don't worry, I was joking. I still have a job. Your concern was touching, though  :'(

I did think it was a bit wierd for a moderator to post that. I'm surprised that our IT guys don't automatically block somethingawful already!

I've been fired from my job becuase of that picture c.leks posted

Seriously, though, if I wanted to see that kind of thing, I wouldn't come to the AGS Forums and that will have been placed in the logs and might be used against me.

Is it just me, or does no one else understand what Petaglair is on about?

Cocodrile Dundee and teh cocodrile hunter are different people?

Heh, my wife says "Cocodrile" as well. It sounds kinda cute, to me, like a little chocolate lizard or something...

One thing to consider, if you're having your game in multiple langauges is that some names are pronounced differently in different languages, even if the spelling is the same: for example Spanish phonetics are very different from English, so my wife and I tried to find a name that would be pronounced the same in both langauges. Easy for a girl (we chose "Alba" in the end) but if we have a boy, we'll be stuck between "Conan" and "Sebastian".

BTW: What with "Dekker" and "Murdoch" listed already in the thread, how many more A-Team names can we get?

Snake, "Dexter Livingston" sounds a bit like the famous "Doctor Livingston (I presume)". Incidentally, I am currently in Livingston, Scotland.

Typos are a great way to name protagonists, as Novo showed.

Coming soon, a new AGS adventure: "The journey of Teh Ares"...  ;D

Broken Sword is my fave: i.e.

Right-click look, Left click take/use/push/pull/go depending on object/hotspot (cursor changes over hotspot/object to indicate which action)

Inventory always visible (i think?) at top of screen

Invertory clicks: right = examine, left = make cursor to use or combine with other inventory

In dialogs, subjects are indicated by icons at bottom of screen, and any inventory item at top of screen can also be used as a dialog topic

I HATE the Syberia interface: what are all those circles supposed to mean?

Grim Fandango is an interestingly different interaface and is OK except if trying to run, I always end up in completely the wrong place.

Here in Scotland, we don't "graduate" from high school, we just "finish" secondary school. Some of us go to University, some of us go to the Job Centre and some of us sponge off the welfare state.

Personally, I did all three for a bit and now pay piles of tax to let others do the same.

However, what would be a great game would be AGS top trumps.

Someone could write this in AGS. This would be so cool. Maybe best to have objective numbers, though! Categories for stats could be:

a) Forum posts (at a given sample point)
b) Number of Games in games list page
c) Number of forums moderated
d) Number of AGS Awards
e) Number of Sprite-Jams/Background Blitz/etc. won
f) Number of plugins/AGS releases

So CJ would be best for (a), (c) and (f) but could be beaten by almost everyone on (b) and by lots of people on (d) and (e). Tierra and Chrille would be up there on (d)...

I used to do Wall Street Sports and it was good fun. It would take a lot of setting up, though. You mean soimething like that or Celebdaq, no?

It is based on a letter in an international code, which is also a drink. See, I like them complicated  :D

That narrow sit down to two... I'm going to work it out and log in to all your things and steal all your money... bwuhahahahahaha ;D

or maybe not   :-\

Or you could just change the view of Eggie, rather than swap characters. There's so many ways to do it, isn't AGS great?

Let's all sing the "AGS is great" song:

AGS is great
AGS is great
If it was a pie I'd eat it off a plate
AGS is great
AGS is great
If you use AGS, your project will not be late

CJ is the best
CJ is the best
If we were stuck in the Arctic together, I'd give him my thermal vest
CJ is the best
CJ is the best
If you love AGS then leave him a large bequest

feel free to add your own verses....

Maybe a moderator should lock this, because it's just turned into a "my game is the greatest" thing...
