Ok, i'm trying not to flat out ruin it.
Spoiler
For me, like the translation puzzle, two of the positions had two possible images. But some of the positions are unambiguous. Think about what body parts are involved. You can narrow it down.
[close]

Ok, will try again when I get a chance. Thank you :)

Shadow,

Here's more
Spoiler
Count how many positions are in the underground. That's the number of drawings that should remain.
[close]

More
Spoiler
The drawings should correspond to the positions, some almost exactly, others might require thinking about Martyn's descriptions of them
[close]

I had to narrow down my pool of possibilities by those methods, and then there was trial and error.

yes, that's what I did before I posted my question here. I guessed that's what it's about. But there are only 2 out of the 4 that correspond to anything. The rest are a guess and so far I've not succeeded.

Shadow,
Spoiler
It's a strange puzzle. You have to think...flexibly and creatively about how the images correspond to what's happening. It's more straightforward than you think - keep to your first, simpler interpretation.
[close]

for another hint
Spoiler
you can definitely eliminate some of the images from your options.
[close]

for another
Spoiler
the animals are definitely out
[close]

Still no luck. I've tried 6 different combinations and I'm just guessing at this point. Any more clues...?

Another room, another dead end...

I'm at
Spoiler
the bottom of the cave with the sex scenes. I'm guessing that I have to remove a certain combination of sex scenes from the wall corresponding either to the ones in the room or the ones NOT corresponding to the ones in the room. Some have no parallel in the drawing and I've tried all combinations.

Any hints?

All you said is true. Just check out the wikipedia link that I posted a few messages before and be a bit more creative with the characters you have identified so far. For me it worked out and the first name I took from the list was the correct one
Spoiler
to open the cave entrance.

.

Actually, that's what I did first but didn't see any change so I went back to try to decipher again. I tried another time and it was successful. Maybe it's case sensitive OR maybe I typed something wrong because the font in the entry box is very unclear (at least on my screen).

Anyway, I succeeded this time. Thank you

I'm having trouble not only with the multiple assignments but there's a letter in there that doesn't exist on the vase!

Shadow,

first
Spoiler
play with the wheel to see what you can and cannot move, and see how you can move the things.
[close]

second
Spoiler
look at the things that cannot move, that are "locked" in place, and look where their notches are.
[close]

I was trying to rotate them to get some symmetry and then the door opened unexpectedly, so I must have done something right!

Thanks, I think...lol

Stuck again.

I'm trying to do the
Spoiler
stone disc puzzle
[close]

I figure that the answer is the
Spoiler
star map I made from the telescope

but I can't figure out how I'm supposed to align the notches on each one.

Any hints, please?

a big one about using the star-map:
Spoiler
... leave the stones aside first and go in the desert.
Use the map several times [on different places] on the sky to realize the order of the  star-signs ... after that you will know wich path is related to which sign ...  - good luck!

WOW!! It never dawned on me to use an inventory item on something not marked as a hotspot. That certainly changes the gameplay...

VIELEN DANK!!

I can't imagine that the pattern in the sky is supposed to correspond to the constellations.
[close]
...you can't imagine, but it does

about pathways in the desert ...
Spoiler
... you need the stars-map to identify the pathways â€" once you did that, you can concentrate on the order that you have been told from the fortune teller.
So I'd recommend doing a ride just to “control” the sky with your map â€" after this is been done, you can give it an other go to make the way in time.
[close]

Edit:
- as axxesfun said already -
Sorry - I am definetely too slow in typing this all in english  :sealed:

Still no luck :(

Spoiler
There's no connection between any of the star patterns and the star map. For example, I need to start with the snake. I looked at the star map for the snake pattern. You have about 1 second to look at the pattern and then try to find a match in the stars on the screen and then relate them to a path (right?). Nothing matches in the sky and the paths don't really line up with any star patterns

I must be really missing something.

I'm stuck in Egypt.

I'm trying to:
Spoiler
get to the lost pyramids by camel
[close]

I have:
Spoiler
the star map I took from the nunnery and the map I drew from the telescope
[close]

I already:
Spoiler
got the combination of constellations from the fortune teller from the stones from the Bedouin
[close]

But I have no idea
Spoiler
what to do with all that information. I would think that by looking at the star map, I would be able to follow the paths based on the stone combination but I can't imagine that the pattern in the sky is supposed to correspond to the constellations. If it is, I can't identify any star patterns so I must be missing something. To make it more difficult, you only get about 2 minutes to complete it because it turns light very quickly

Thank you

I'm still desperately trying to make the ink. I tried to combine the burnt cork with everything in inventory and everything I see to no avail. Maybe I'm missing an item? What room is the item I combine the cork with to be found?

There is a thread in hints :-)

Indeed...I started it...lol

Thanks!

I guess it's a question of how many red herrings are appropriate to keep some balance between reality and bogging down the player. I can't answer till I've finished the game because as Tabata says, maybe some of the hotspots are actually useable items in the game.

I'm stuck again:

Spoiler
I need to write a letter to the priest. I have the feather and paper but no idea how to get ink. I've guessed from the burnt cork or dark berries but no avail. Any hints?

Hmmm â€" I'd like to give some help, but I don't understand the problem with the not labeled items/objects you told about.

When hoovering with the cursor over an item in the inventory the name of it is shown at the bottom of the screen without the need of an action.  Also you can pic the item (left-click) and move it to the eyes-symbol to get more information/a description about it.

Outside the inventory are hotspots for all the objects/characters... to interact with and the names are to be seen without doing an action (right-click to look at and left-click to use/talk). Possibly you didn't realize it appearing at the bottom of the screen?

I think the concern is that there are many items that you can't interact with that are hotspots with descriptions and just messages that you can't do anything. When you're playing the game, it really slows things down when you have to guess what you can interact with if there are that many red herrings.

At least that's how I understood the complaint because that's something I experience when I play.

About the point where you're stuck:
Spoiler
I think you need the lightning bud (the one hanging from the tree in Martyn's kitchen garden). If you have the rope it means that you have the earthquake power, so you can shake the tree with earthquake to make the bud fall down. Remember also that is important to talk to all the characters you meet. If you know that you need to go to Venice and that there's a galleon ready to sail away maybe someone at the tavern can help you
[close]

Spoiler
nope...I got the lightning bud so that's not where I'm stuck...sorry. I'll speak to people at the tavern and see if I can progress from there. I know about Venice and I know that I need the password from the Archduke but that's about it

If you leave the house without the money, as I did initially, then approach the woman to buy seeds, she will tell you the cost and you will say that you don't have money. Then, if you go back to the house to grab the money bag, come back to her, you will be asking for mushrooms. I don't know if there's a way to get seeds if you initially didn't have money.
[close]

It's possible that there is a way but I spent a long time trying unsuccessfully.

Also, I'm stuck:
Spoiler
I just got the rope. That should give you an idea of what inventory and skills I have (I'd rather not give too many spoilers). I suppose the next step is to get the berries for the wind skill but I've just been wandering around using my inventory items and skills in different places with no progress.
[close]

Can you provide a bit of direction?

Hi Shadow1000,
I'm glad you're enjoying JTH
Thanks for your opinion: the atmosphere in a game is very important for me. I hope you'll finish JTH and you'll rate it (that would be great).

I think there is a glitch in the game that would make the game impossible to complete if you do something very early on in the game...it seems there's no backsies and I actually had to restart from the beginning. Do you want me to post it here using the hidden font or PM it to you?
