I actually only ever attempted gameplay once.  The Quiet Game's anti-OROW/AGS-maker rant was too good to interrupt with point-n-clicking.

"You did this with a buddy!?"  LOLsquirts.

Super excellent!

I've been a big Megaman fan since I had fine motor skills fine enough to pick up a controller so I'm sure I'll love all 16 bits out of this piece of nostaljoy.

Just looking at the wall jumping, bullet-hell dodging and gravity physics, it's actually rather insane, mind-boggling that this was coded in AGS.  Hat's off.

I was even initially going to try to hybridize the retro action-platformer and the p-n-c adventure but that was too much of a bitch for myself, so double kudos to you guys for being the courageous surviving half of that Siamese twin!

Best of luck to you guys, although I'm sure you won't need it since you've obviously already found all of the "red-glove" augmentation capsules, if you know what I mean.

You totally violated that theme, bro.  But it was into it, too.

Uncontrollable +1 worst abuse of theme.

I guess I'll do a few quick reviews too!

Spoiler

Alien Escapade
Best technical achievement with AGS, as far as I can tell.  Great art style.  Had no clue what to do, but it was fun running around the planet and talking to all of the denizens.

Crash Course
Got stuck in Solitaire, but that's my own bad for being dumb, possibly.  I like the mouse-based scroll effect.  Looked pretty interesting!

Flophouse Hijinks
Solid writing and funny writing, could be the start of a Tarantino movie or an HBO talkie.

Hybrid
Pixel art guru over here!  Really nice evocative lo-fi gore.  Blood dripping creeped me out!  Liked the soundtrack too, it fit right in.

Rogered
Sorry I couldn't quite figure this out but looked like it was going to be a really out-of-the-box fourth-wall-breaking fun fest.

Sunrise Paradise
Favorite of the bunch.  I bought the characters, especially with the comic-style facial expressions.  The little nuances like the condoms and the kid's specific degree of naivete sold it.  Even the cold corporate witch lady was believable.  Also the sci-fi concept was really well-thought-out and thought-provoking.

The Quiet Game
FRICKIN HILEEEEEEEERIOUS BRO.  HILEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERIOUS.

UNCONTROLLABLE
Cuteness award!

Thanks, I had a great time with Flophouse as well!

Sure thing, Shadow!  Bug reports are welcome.

First off, awesome jobs all around, my fellow caffeine fiends!  Caf-fiends!  Big thanks to Bulbapuck for hosting and diligent, highly entertaining playthroughs (I particular lol'ed at your voicing of Dislocation's 'Detective Bohr'.  Spot on, bro, we'll keep you in the loop for voice acting on Neofeud. :) )  Also I really enjoyed playing all of the entries.  Laughed, cried, spat Rockstar on my laptop, all that good stuff.  Let me know if any Kickstarters are in the works!

I'd also like to give a special props to Sunrise Paradise.  I felt like the designers really put themselves in it, and it gets the Feels award from me.

I want to personally praise Dislocation, which seems to not have won any popularity votes, but it definitely won my heart. The cheeky defiant intentionally idiotic humor completely won me over and firmly planted a grin on my face. In other words I loved it the most. Would love to see more of that silliness.

Thanks qptain Nemo!  There is at least 2x more silliness in the fully materialized version of Dislocation, which I regret falling short of finishing in time for the OROW 2015 due date.  I felt pretty crap knowing that Bohr and Belle would run through all that cheeky idiotic banter and yet the OROW players would never find out who the mysterious quantum murderer was until AFTER the week of OROW voting!

Having got 9/10 of the work done in the final 36 hours, it was a case of tortoise-and-hare syndrome, at least on my end.  I'll try to be more slow-n-steady next time!

Anyway, here's another link to the complete version of Dislocation.

It won my heart, as well as my vote for best game. Cracking effort. And it wasn't even finished!!!1!

Thanks also Stupot for playing and the shining review of the game, despite its faults!  And to answer your earlier question: we'll see about a sequel / prequel.  You know these quantum events are a crapshoot: anything can happen ;)

That's too bad...  Yeah, the wider gaming audience might file that complaint, beyond the point-n-click diehards.  The game does have a AAA or at least single-A game look to it, from the beginning, with the high-production-value 3D intro and pro-look isometric view.  The silver lining to getting hated on is it's a sign that you're reaching a wider audience, which is always going to increase the number of dislikes, given the wider range of demographics.  You can't please everyone!

Personally I'm used to 320x240 or 640x480 16-bit Windows-95 gen retro graphics of most point-n-click games, including rockstar companies like Wadjet Eye, so anything with full 3D above 800x600 is spoiling me. :)

Thanks Stupot+ for the support.  :)

It's longer, definitely, and hopefully better!  At least I feel a whole lot better having wrapped the loose ends up.  Racing to meet the OROW deadline and having to toss out the half-finished thing with a complete script in Google Docs was like having a brain-splinter for the rest of the week.  I got so OCD about finishing the game that I actually took some time at work to get it done the next day, but given the anonymity constraint, still couldn't release of course.

An underpaid detective and his over-educated, underemployed Millenial partner get quantum entangled in a crime involving quantum computing, quant Wall Street criminals, quantum teleportation, and quantum mechanical paradoxes.

Will detective Bohr become the next Donald Trump with a penthouse suite and a trophy wife, or die of a heart attack alone in a dingy apartment? Or is there another possible endstate? Only you can collapse the wave function and decide!

This is the *full* version of the game, over twice as long as the OROW competition entry, complete with moral decisions, multi-endings, and 120% more quantum teleportation.

Features

  • Handcrafted backgrounds
  • At least four endings
  • More witty banter than Robert Downey Jr. on crack-spiked Red Bull.

Make it a long, overcomplicated series of button pushes, lever pulls, power-ons, and cooling system-offs, and involve destroying a 200,000 square foot facility!

Kind of being facetious, but also kind of factual, statistically.

Or as MPAA says, "Go big or go home!"

Just started in on this.  Definitely one of the best point-n-click's I've played in recent history, certainly the most detailed and high-resolution!  Great work!
#1214
I've played and voted!  Lot of really excellent entries here, definitely had fun with all of them!  Finished all but two, and I spent about an hour on those collectively.
#1215
Awesome art here, really dig the watercolor style.  Must've taken ages!  Hope you don't mind if I post this Let's Play here, me and the Mrs. had a ton of fun with Linn and Ran's Daughters!

There's actually one room that takes up 200+ megabytes (unzipped) ... it's kind of the "dark matter" of the OROW universe.  (/obscure physics jokes)
#1217
Well, just got through a marathon session playthrough of all the great OROW entries.  Laughed, cried, called my lawyer, and everything in between!  Awesomesauciers, you all!
#1218
Looking forward to checking these out!

Wish I'd gone into crunch-time mode 6 days before crunch-time, but c'est la vie, eh?

Thanks Creamy for doing an excellent job on ***** ******** ***** and the ***** was particularly spectacular.

On the home stretch now.  Just half the game to do in the next 12 hours!
