I note the AGS documentation talks about using PCX files for splash screens. Does this still work (for 3.2)? Can we use alternative file formats?

Pretty much as the subject line says, really. What does it mean when code is contained with these lines, and is there any documentation on them and their effects?

Thanks.

First of all, of course, is how exporting walkable areas work - my understanding is that it should just show the walkable areas and nothing else. Is this correct?

Regardless, when using 3.2 RC3 and telling to export a room's walkable area(s), it just exports the background image - no sign of any walkable areas. Is this correct? Is it a known bug?

I've just downloaded v2.7 of AGS (why doesn't the front page have a link to it, or am I missing something here?). As I use Linux, I'm using WINE to run it. So far, so good, but I'll try and post any problems here.

Frankly, I'd love to see version 3.0 of this software stop producing EXEs or otherwise depending on platform-dependent files (DLLs? Ugh!), just producing a set of (or just one) platform-independent datafiles that would be played by an interpreter.

...I'm running a 100% Linux system right now. The fact that AGS' development system is only available for Windows is a big problem for me, as I'd like to learn and use it, but can't.

Unless it can work with WINE. I haven't tried it myself yet, though I intend to soon. Has anybody else tried this? Does it work at all? Does it work usably? If so (or if not), what version of WINE are you using?

Thanks!

Say someone wanted to emulate the ZVision system from the latter two graphical Zorks. Now, I'm thinking that the demonstration game's looptown shows one potential way to achieve this, but are there others? What would be the best type of approach?

General Discussion / Forums and M$IE...

On my PC at least, IE 6 (with XP Pro) doesn't seem to keep the cookies this forum uses, meaning that if I switch to another part of the forum, it assumes I'm a guest.

Bizarrely, despite this the status line at the bottom shows me to be still logged in!

Mozille, Konqueror/KDE under Linux etc. seem to have no trouble.

Any ideas what's going on?
