Bad topic. Sometimes there have been tons of entries. It all depends on the topic.

Who are you to pass judgement like that? Participation fluctuates on this board, and has been a bit low lately in most activities. There's absolutely nothing 'bad' with this topic, I think it's imaginative and inspirational.

By 'bad' I meant that it wasn't good at getting entries. The actual idea itself is interesting, but it's bad because it's pretty hard for people to come up with ideas.

Sometimes the topics that are 'imaginative' are very restrictive and entries are hard to do. The reason that the last tune contest had so many entries was because the topic allowed people to do almost whatever they wanted.

Hey Saberteeth, did you leave and then come back? I haven't seen you on here in ages...

Now, let's not post here more unless you have a contribution; threads on this board should be kept on track as much as possible.
I'll try to enter sometime soon...

EDIT:

My entry:

Enter... The Buddha! (this is not to be taken seriously)

2X

Buddhists think that Buddha was a spiritually advanced man who was 'enlightened'.

But was he merely a tourist with really bad teeth who was smarter than the rest of them, and tricked them into believing him?

Sounds like somebody's a fan. 8)

Don't change anything man! Your band is already perfect in it's own special way.
Well, I think I'm going to have to take the advice of other people, and do some sound mastering with the recording. I've worked on some equalization and it really improves the sound. I also think that recording farther away from the instruments would give less 'clipping' in the recording.

Very nice! What program did you use to do all that? I use FL Studio and Audacity- could either of those programs make the recording sound better?

Also, how did you change the equalization of individual instruments?

Can you PM me with some tutorials, etc?

Thanks.

I've never seen this game before, but I'm glad you've decided to keep making it. It looks professional!

If a guitar solo is the conversational equivalent of a precise and eloquent articulation of a theme, then this was half-drunken and stuttering flirting, topped off with barfing and passing out.
So in other words... it was crap. Right?

The solo was unrehearsed, and the recording was lo-fi.

I actually think that was alright!
That's something I don't hear you say very often. Thanks!

Hmmm... There's no horn. That was a guitar doing a solo. It was high pitched so you probably thought it was a horn.

Bad topic. Sometimes there have been tons of entries. It all depends on the topic. Like with that last Tune Contest. The topic was very un-restricting, so lots of people entered.

Okay, here's a clip of our guitarist soloing. I'm happy with the volume of the band (each instrument can be heard fine), but it's the sound quality I don't like as much.

Worst thing on the internet: Those ads with the smiley faces that yell, "HELLOOOO!???" in the most aggravating, and taunting way they possibly could.

WHY would I want to download your fucking smiley pack now you've gone and pissed me off so much?!?!?

Worst bit is, they're rife on Myspace, and I use myspace for listening to music at work. So I have my fucking volume turned right up and then.... "HELLOOOOO!??"

Those things freak me out sometimes. I'll just be browsing and then I hear this loud 'Hello!!11!', and I nearly jump out of my seat in surprise.

No one is gonna bust you for ROMS. It's all just some stupid fairy tale. Yea it's illegal, but no one cares if you download a few every now and then. Selling them would be another thing though.
Actually, I don't think they'd ever bust you for downloading ROMs. The news always has a bunch of headlines about music piracy and P2P, but never anything to do with ROMS.

I doubt that the FBI really care about someone downloading a 20 year old ROM of Mario Bros.

Maybe it would be better if the instruments were farther away from the mic? It picks up sound from pretty far away, and whenever we've recorded we were really close to it..

I'm like you when downloading roms- I'm really picky about which sites they come from. Most rom sites are crap because they require you to 'vote' in order to download roms. I haven't been to a single site where the voting doesn't take you to some kind of porn.

Another thing I hate about the internet is those banner ads on pages with those annoying games like 'Shoot 10 ducks and win a free iPod', and similar things. Playing those games actually gives you free spyware.

Your English is very hard to understand, but I think you're asking if you can use pre-made music in your game? Yes, you can, unless it's copyrighted.

CD quailty (or almost) MP3 would usually be recorded at 320kbs and 44.100hz

The higher the hz of the wav file, the better the sound.

So it has more to do with the actual recording than editing it after, I guess?

I've never gotten an MP3 to sound as good as a wav file.  I have used a few tricks though.  I use Cakewalk/Sonar... save it as an MP3... then take it into your wav editor... 1) Boost the bass 2)Maximize the volume (meaning the highs are brighter, the lows are beefier and the middles are cleaner and 3) Add a bit of stereo reverb  Hope this hellps. Steve

Thanks, that might work.. I'll try it.

General Discussion / MP3 Quality?
Sat 05/05/2007 02:09:53
I've recently formed a band, and we've made a few recordings. However, the device I'm using to record the band only has very low quality .wav format recordings. I've tried using my PC's Sound Recorder to make the sound quality better, but that doesn't get it to the so-called 'CD Quality'. I'm wondering- are there any ways to make sound quality on the songs sound even remotely good as a CD? I use the program Audacity for mixing- would anyone know some tricks with that to make the sound better?

If you wish, I can post sound clips of the songs...

Thanks,

Steel

IMO, the Spider-Man series was actually one of the best comic book-to movie-films I've seen. It sure is better than Fantastic Four.
