General Discussion / Re: Thrill Rides

Maybe they don't publicize these Thrill Ride accidents so that their profits won't decrease from paranoid people. I think that the ride attendants are to blame for quite a few incidents:

Quote from: RideAccidents.com
(Monday, April 9, 2007) - A 7-year-old boy died after he and his mother fell out of a Sizzler ride yesterday at a carnival in Hope, Arkansas. Witnesses say that the boy stood up after falling to the ground and was struck by one of the ride's cars. He then stood up a second time and was struck in the head by another car. He died at a hospital hours later as a result of traumatic brain injury.

A member of the boy's family says that the safety bar was not properly latched, and that the mother was trying to get the attention of the ride operator

Just a thought..

Is it just me, or are all of the movies offered on these sites pre-90s?

Steel Drummer, I can see where you're going with this, but I have to disagree.
Everyone's entitled to their own beliefs, yes?
Therefore, I can believe in Satan as my deity (seeing as I believe in the Joy of Satan stuff, which does exactly that, rather than LeVaye's theories)
Yes, I can try it for a month. The thing is, it's my life, my body. If I want to try something new, why not? You only get to live once, and maybe, just maybe, you'll pick a path that's right for you.
Also, it kind of makes me a little sick that Christians push their religious beliefs on everyone else. I used to do that all the time without realizing it, but Satanism has opened my eyes a little bit to that. It's really annoying.

It's funny how you're converting from Christianity to Satanism- most ex-christians convert to Buddhism or Islam or something, but you've converted to exactly the opposite of Christianity. :)

2) Points out possibilties that the Bible "lifted" a lot from other religions, by comparing them.
I think other religions 'lifted' stuff from Christianity. If you compare even just the 'creation story' from each religion, you'll see that most other religion's 'legends' are very similar to the Adam and Eve tale. And Islam borrows heavily from Judaism. I heard some story once about a 'black stone'- if I recall correctly, the stone was originally white, but had turned black because Adam and Eve had sinned. I've heard a few other stories that point to Judaism/Christianity as well.

If Christianity acknowledges Satan, why does satanism discount God?

Sure Satanism is the antithesis of Christianity?

Alliance, I don't think you can just TRY a religion, a religion is a belief, how can you try a belief? You either believe it or you don't.
I agree. For example: MrColossal is an atheist. He can't just say ''Oh, why don't I become a Christian for a week? If I hate it, I'll go back to my old beliefs."

Another thing: I remember you saying that you were a christian before, does that mean your family members are christians too? What do they think about this 'temporary conversion'?

Quote from: WHAM
Satanic Church = Atheism that has been given a funny name to piss off christians and to stand out of the crowd. They do not worship any god or such, but only nature and human itself. Therefore its not really a religion, its atheism. I've read the book. A few of my friends claim to be members of the Satanic Church.

I am not.

On a side note: WHAM has a point; I was checking out the website, and I don't see anywhere where it acknowledges Satan as a deity. The religion sounds more like extreme humanism with some satanic elements thrown in for good measure. It almost reminds of of the Sith- with all that talk about power, and inner nature, etc.

Quote from: Alliance
Actually, I believe in just Satan right now, AS God. Therefore, the Christian/Jewish concept of God is a false God if you are a Satanist.
Satanism teaches that Jesus/God is a lie, but they don't accept Satan as a god. They say that each person is their own god. Very atheistic and/or humanistic, and if you want to be a 'good' Satanist, you should know these things. Unless you're twisting the religion to suit what you want...

EDIT: I just realized that I said something false- Satanists believe that Jesus/God is a 'god', however they don't think He's not powerful enough to suit their needs/overcome Satan. I guess they're tired of having to ask God for help, and they want to do everything on their own.

Is this the Anton LaVey Church of Satan, or is this something else?

Never mind... it is. They seem like a bunch of geeks who are trying to form their own religion. Of course, they deal with witchcraft and stuff, but they're really a joke. I remember something Helm said a while back:
Quote from: Helm
Lavey and his so call church of satan are anything but devilworshippers. They're plastic-card-carrying rational egoists who desire to belong to some sekrit club and have sex with each other as if it's a big blaphsemous ritual. It's not. It's just old bald people having sex with each other every other saturday dressed in goat skins. They don't believe in Satan. They don't believe in anything other than fun.
That's basically what most Satanists are. Some of them may actually be evil or whatever, but a lot of them just want a 'religious' reason to have sex all the time.

The verdict is probably the original left picture, and I'm going to agree. I find that the right picture's font looks very unprofessional- almost like it was made by a 12 year old. I like GarageGothic's paintover, a lot. I like LimpingFish's as well, but GarageGothic's suits the game better, I think.

Isn't this piracy?

He means the laugh tracks they use in tv shows, with a whole crowd laughing.

General Discussion / Cover songs thread
Mon 04/06/2007 02:44:30
Howdy! I've recently been listening to The Police, and I have a lot of their songs stuck in their head. My band and I just finished a cover of one of their tunes and I thought I'd post it (and any other covers we do, in the future). This thread can also be used to talk about cover songs in general...

Roxanne

Don't worry, the sound quality on this cut is much better than the quality than in that other song I posted. We still have a lot to work on in this song (mainly the chorus is sucky, and the drumming is a bit off, plus there is absolutely no mixing or mastering that had been done on this version). This song is really unfinished, but I thought I'd share it anyways.

So... enjoy, and tell me what you think!

And please try not to be too negative *gaggh-Helm-gagghcoughblechhh*

Wow! Those are great. Sandy's head is a bit off-center, but other than that, they look superb. Someone should make a Maniac Mansion remake.

Not anyone at the age of 16+ (I'm 30, almost btw), will have interest in pokemons! Try to think before posting. That's the main idea!

Wtcq didn't post those threads about pokemon, arthur.com did. :)

Buckethead, I've tried MapleStory before, but I got frustrated with it after it wouldn't log in (despite me entering the correct PIN number). I wouldn't recommend it unless you're willing to be patient and try signing up again and again (I had to make several accounts because it won't let you get a new PIN number, or make an account with the same email address). It's very annoying.

Why didn't you just PM her with that? It's very unnecessary to post that in a GiP thread. :P

Well by the way Mr Colossal , we have broken a rule already. And guys oh my god stick to the subject. We're supposed to make fun out of Cyrus. Not talk about ManicMatt's balls of steel.
I was trying to get it back on topic, but Hammerite screwed it up.

I couldn't understand a word you just said. That last rant you made about Vista isn't true- it's the other way around; most games aren't made to be played on Vista. Heck, Vista has such high security on it that it won't even let you download or install most games. :P

The game looks great, a big improvement graphics-wise from the last game. I hate the SAW series of movies, but I'll probably play this game, as it looks promising. Keep up the good work!

2.The fact that a people is older then 16 dosent mean that he/she can  form a proper scenteces in English
He does have a point... I know a few AGSers with glaringly bad spelling, punctuation, (and sometimes grammar)- I'm not going to name any, but they're all older than 16.

On topic: I prefer to not play MMORPGs as I find them a waste of money, especially if you have to buy the game and pay monthly fees. If I play any MMORPGs at all, they're usually those free crappy ones (like RuneScape).

Mmmm...

I wan't implying I was a better player of the steel drum than you. I was implying that comparing yourself to Jimi Hendrix was a big call. And no, I've never listened to any of those 'Caribbean' cds.

You actually took all that seriously? I was joking when I said all that. ;)

Yes, let's get back to the original topic. I also was amused by the YTMND sites.

Is it your personal duty or something to post in every thread that I post in and tell me that I'm not witty? That's the third time so far you've done that. If you were trying to act witty by doing that, it didn't work. :)

You tryin' to make fun of me, punk? I could beat you anytime on the steel drums. Here are just a few of the many media venues that I've played in:

You've probably heard of/listened to all (or at least a few of) those 'Caribbean' CDs that have a bunch of calypso and reggae songs played on steel drums? Well I'm the guy who's providing the lead steel drum for most of those songs on every one of those CDs. I've even played steel drums for orchestra music! A few years ago I was asked to come in and help record a steel drum part for the Lord Of The Rings soundtrack.

Star Wars IV: Cantina band, I was the third guy from the left. George Lucas had me dressed in all that makeup and that crazy get-up. I actually went into the studio and recorded the steel drum track to both of the cantina pieces for Star Wars IV.

I also recorded (recently) two (yes, two) steel drum notes in one of the songs from Spider-Man 3. I know, it's quite a feat, but I pulled it off incredibly. If you happen to buy the movie when it comes out, watch the film at 56:23- that's the part of the soundtrack where I played my notes.

What I'm trying to say is:

ManicMatt, can I play steel drums for your game, rather than triangle?
