The Rumpus Room / Re: Happy Birthday Thread!

Happy Birthday Mouthuvmine! I hope one day you'll find your animator and finish that project you started ages ago :)

And Happy Birthday Jens! Best wishes to one of my fav. pixel artists.

Okay, time to get out of the beta state: here's 1.6.

The most important change is a bugfix, to correctly draw non-square icons. There's also experimental support for highlighted scroll arrows, but I don't recommend using them until AGS fully supports it.

Enjoy :)

QuoteHehe ...  You may have better luck using AGS's "Make My Game" function.

Nah.. that only supports low-res and that's for poopers :P

Alcohol is cheap in germany too ;)

But on the other hand I've never seen a Vodka Sixpack before (0,7l per bottle!) That was at the tallink terminal in helsinki :)

Haha, okay I see it now.

I guess that panorama isn't what I've expected on a windshield. At least not in a scene dominated by concrete :)

(and one day I need to visit Estonia)

What's the deal with the monster behind the busdriver?

I quickly traced it in case some of you don't see it:

Well, since it's Saturday I think 23:00 GMT+1 is fine for me.

I've got to help a friend moving that day anyway so the date is already ruined. With the ceremony there's at least something fun on Saturday.

You're still having a slight perspective problem, I hope this image explains it:

To match the upper left exit, the stairs have to be more "inside" the room. Also the right pedestal needs to match the depth of the stairs.

Btw. isn't Snake supposed to draw your backgrounds?
#1650
Just in advance, do I need any fancy mirc plugins or will it be just plain text?
(mp3 streams or whatever I need special software for)

Btw. yeah, 22 GMT is indeed very late... Espresso time :D
#1651
Yay! Congrats on finishing!!
Can't wait to play the final version ;D

Okay, I've given in and added AGS 3.1 support. So now nobody is forced to use the release candidate of AGS 3.2 anymore (although it's great and pretty stable).

The first post has been updated with the link.

@Blue Angel
Seems like it worked for you ;)

Quotethe past is good...
That's why most of us are here ;D

Quotebut I like the old style AGS....
This is understandable, but getting used to 3.1 is not a huge leap. And you'll get much more support from the people around.
Plus: the template maintainer visits this place regularly ;)

Anyway, here's the template:

@Jim
Yeah, that book is awesome :D

Apart from that I can't add much more to the topic. I could already live with that walkcycle. If you're aiming for perfection, I'd suggest to let his belly bounce too.
#1655
Alright alright, I'm porting my Scumm Template Back to AGS 3.1 :)

So if you're going to switch to that template I'm sure I can help you out.

But I'm afraid you won't find a lot help for the FOA template since it's really ancient ;).
#1656
I made it a little more choppy and updated the previous animation. But all torso movement experiments ended in lousy results ;)

some more ideas:

- To loosen up the asphalt, you could add tramway tracks
- framing: e.g. some darker elements in the forground - like a phone booth or a streetlamp (or both combined)
- graffiti
- an advertising  column
- McDonalds bags and cups on the pavement
- antennas on the roof
#1658
@Wayne
These frames are hilarious :D But including those in a walkcycle would include way too much frames for me. But I'll definately consider to use 5+6 in a talk animation. This pointy finger is just too cool :)

Anyway, I've manged paste Ben's base sprite on the stickman and this is how it looks.

Not as drunken as I thought, but adding delays as suggested might do the trick.
#1659
Hey Nickel,
have you  been a former employee of CinemawarE ?

With its very amigaesque palette Harpy just blows me away.
(and since this isn't critics lounge I simple shut up and admire all those other terrific sprites!)
#1660
Thanks for the hint! Messing with the delay might indeed improve things a lot.

I already did a quick check in AGS, that's why the foot with the weight on always moves 2px per frame. Otherwise the guy started gliding or it looked like he slipped. Oh well, let's see how he looks with flesh on his bones :)
