I've just seen that The Vestibule is on the nomination page as well...

Best demo from 2001 in 2009 ?  :=

Why not adding some more short games (besides I haven't finished anything else last year) ;D
So please consider

AeroNuts

If you haven't played it yet, here's your chance ;)

Best Programming in a Non-Adventure: For this very polished and hopefully fun arcade mode.

Best Innovation: For mixing two classic genres into one

Best Sound Effects: Even though you might not have noticed it yet - this game has a lot very well balanced effects. It's been quite a task to choose explosions, engine sounds and gun fire effects without annoying the player.

Best Music: I think Andrew did a really great job here and it fits the game perfectly.

Best Player Character: Hooray for Elfie McMillen ;D She's still my favourite.

Doesn't the 8-bit import setting in the preferences tab do the trick?

@DrWhite
Hey! You just beaten the internal developer highscore by more than 100000 points  :=
Congrats on that! Whenever I polish the arcade mode again, I shall add power ups and some chain bonus. I don't want to know for how long you've kept that boss alive for that score :D

@Mr Matti
Did it crash again or have already made some progress? ;)

Feedback time :) First of all, my kudos to you for having finished a game this long within the (extended) deadline and during Christmas!

For your first game ever, Snow Queen is pretty neat. The backgrounds are beautiful as always. Although - if you ever get interviewed by Dual, I need to know why you refuse to blend some of those pixels ;)
Playing such a highly detailed drawn characters as the Queen is pure joy :D Not to mention the portraits and their decorations! I liked the camp the most - for me this was also the most post-apocalyptic moment in the game.
Also the side characters are neat and add a lot the game.

On the other hand, I had some serious trouble to follow the gameplay. Because of the lack of unhandled events and missing hints (of course this is mags - these things happen ;) ) I'm sure I wouldn't have finished it without your help.

Spoiler
Also, why did I have to collect a feather? As far as I remember, it wasn't needed it anywhere. Or is there an alternative ending?
Also, as always, I'm not a big fan of open endings - even though, this one makes me want to play more. In general the story is good, the characterization of the queen with an heart of ice is great and her demonic consultant Morgus is the cherry on the pie.
Too bad that there is no more interaction with the humans, but I guess, that's been saved for part two :)

Some glitches also made me chuckle:
<Look at the lever> - " I need to push it",   <push lever> - "I can't push that" :D (although I can't reproduce it anymore)
Aine: Show me the stuff for your journey - <Give stuff to Aine> - "I'd rather keep it" - or even nothing, since Sylda wants to see it apparently.

Then I had to grin again after I've seen "the powered by" ;D  Go 9Verbs go! ;D
So thanks for the credit!

So the bottom line is that it's a glitchy, but nice little game. Not to mention that you made it during Christmas season, that alone saves you my applause :)

edit:
I almost forgot: Yay for GIRLPOWER! ;D

ARGH!!!  :=
Spoiler

It was push instead of use on the buttons and use (unhandled) instead of push(nothing) on the lever.  And after I pushed the buttons, push also worked on the lever. grrrr.

Thanks :D I knew the solution, but the stuff from above kept me away from it .

edit:
*cough* I'm really sorry to bug you again... err...but... I'm stuck again.

Spoiler

I've already frosted the generator and decorated the tree with the glas shards. I suppose I now have to make it glow with the wisps but the queen tells me, she can't reach the top again. Unfortunately the trick with the wind doesn't work this time. Okay - it were the shards.

Can you walk me through this once again? I'm through :)
Thanks!

Okies ... so what now  ???

I'd better open a help thread ;)

use feather on wisp
[...] I suppose anything else except the correct item as well

To bad, that Blobby didn't make it in time - his screenys also looked interesting. Anyhow hurray for Kastchey! I bet, your family wants you to stay away from amateur adventures for long time now ;)

As for the snow queen, I'm stuck here:

Spoiler

Aine wants to see the items I've got and I've currently found sleeping powder, an icicle, snow and an empty jar. Either non of these are the right ones or give or use simply don't work.
And the snow queen tells me that she can unfreeze the fountain's water but the hotspot is still called "frozen water" and obviously I can't use the empty jar on it.

... or I'm totally on the wrong track here :)

Great Highscores everyone! I'm glad that some of you have finally discovered the arcade mode :)

It's also really really cool that this game is still being played, even after one month of its release ;D

As for the proofs - since you won't win anything, I simply rely on the people's respectability.
Although screenshots are nice indeed ;)
#1753
Alright! Congrats on finishing!!  ;D

Playing this super pretty title is the first thing I'll do tomorrow!
#1754
Quoteoh, i played it on a celeron 800(ghz? very old) , and it worked perfectly.
Great to hear, also the arcade mode? There's a much shorter spawn time there...
But first of all congrats on the second place in the highscore and thanks for your feedback :)

btw. Merry Christmas folks! :D
#1755
@Bulbapuck
Hehe, so the easy mode did it for you :)

@Crimson Wizard
Hey! Congrats on the new highscore  8)  I'm glad you liked it, since the stereotypes I used in the game aren't 100% political correct ;)
Also thanks for the typos, I hope I get them fixed today or tomorrow (since I don't have any new content to offer, I just do it silently)
About your performance problems: I've tested the game on a very old computer (celeron 1000 ghz) and have manged to finish it there. Can you give me some more details on your machine? (OS, processor etc) Does it happen all the time? Have you tried DX5?

@Jared
Don't forget to post your score :D
#1756
Cool! Just in time for Christmas

downloading... (since I've missed the regular version)
#1757
Hey,

wow, your artwork has improved a lot since the last CC. Seems like this is going to be much fun - especially the red haired, short bearded dude :D

QuoteThat would be boobs.

Slaughtered boobs to be precise ;)

QuoteIt has only helped to spur me on to improve the next episodes and get more cups for my collection.

How about getting started with that  ::)

Okay, since it's all about the score McCarthy got, I've finally downloaded and played it a bit.

I guess you must have slipped in another league :) In the league of awesome games, McCarthy is more like an interactive theatre with not too much focus on gameplay.
I suppose the guy who rated your game was disappointed that your game could have been so much more.
To be honest, if McCarthy would have no sound, cheesy paint graphics and cEgo in it, 2 cups would have been fair in my oppinion.

But since it's not, I think McCarthy is really underrated.

@Leon:
QuoteYour friends would certainly miss out on the McCarthy Chronicles, amongst other great games.
Since they are not addicted to the genre, I'm afraid they live with it. They don't like my game(s) either :D
