Herzlichen Glückwunsch, Ghost!  :)

Lol, it should have  ;D

But here's, what the first disk did:

Andail, here's some explaination
* individual way of spelling Bubble Bobble
* erasing Flight Sim 2 in favour of P.O.W (a cheesy clone of Operation Wolf)
* deleting a 200 DM game in general :P
* a nice and clean handwritten message, that this disc is now intended for amiga
(there's indeed a sequel of this FlightSimulator 2 affair, which I'll post when I find that floppy too)

In general I've started the thread to exhibit some sins of the childhood/youth/whatsoever... e.g. spelling mistakes, mis-punched 5 1/4" floppys, handdrawn labels of teenage queen poker and so on.

About floppys in general
What happens, if your 1 TB hdd crashes? Do you still have backups on your USB sticks, the today's floppy substitute? Or what will be in 20 years, will that hdd ever spin up again? ;) So for the (unwanted) archiving value, floppys did a good job.

I don't know if I'd have been clever enough to create CD-R/DVD backups at the age of eight ;)

This just came to my mind... I think everyone has still some hidden memories from their early days of computing, locked somewhere in the basement.

I'll want to share this one:

The first one is Flight Simulator 2 for Amiga. It features a cool cracktro with some heavy metal music (Judas Priest?) and the combat mode, which for me was the only fun aspect in the game.

The second disc is also Flight Simulator 2, bought by my dad, who actually liked it on the amiga. But this time for the Atari ST and lacking the combat mode (or it had a different key combination  ::) )
Also the annoying position of the Atari's mouse/joystick-ports has to be mentioned to understand, what I did here  :-[

1) We already owned Flight2
2) 10 Floppy Discs cost 30 to 40 DM back in 1987 (around 15 euro)
3) Flight2 sucks even more on the Atari, because you had to lift the computer and switch mouse and joystick in order to play it - and reverse it to play something else
4) It doesn't even have a cracktro

So without further explanation

That was the day, my dad explained the difference between copy and original to me...
I feel a little moronic :)

Hmm.. as I said, unfortunately I can't reproduce it anymore  :-\

What I did to make it crash:
1) Talk to Roger
2) Exit the dialog
3) Activate the device
3) Save the Game
4) Quit the Game
5) Run the .exe again
6) Load the game
7) Talk to Roger and vóila..

I've used the same version that I've uploaded here as well without any changes, but still it just doesn't want to crash again.

btw. I'm on vacation for the next 2 weeks, not that you think I don't care anymore ;)

Hey, I can crash the sample game too  :)

Code: ags

  // Fill GUI Background
  if (CDG.bg_img==0) info.Surface.Clear(CDG.bg_color);
  else info.Surface.DrawImage(0, 0, CDG.bg_img, CDG.bg_img_transparency);

As you've already mentioned, it crashed after the game is beeing loaded. But it only occurs, if a background image has been used.

So it doesn't crash if CDG.bg_img is set to 0 and stays 0. But as soon as DrawImage is involved, the games crashes after being loaded.

@Dualnames:
In order to get rid of this showstopper, I'd suggest, you go on without a background image until this bug gets ironed out.

@CJ
Here's a crashdump (pls. remove the .doc)
http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/CrashInfo.3.11.1056.dmp.doc

update
It doesn't seem to crash in AGS 3.1.2(R2) anymore... hmm... or a least I can't get it to crash.

Hey, awsome find. I think the basic version would do it in the most situations.

And that guy sells the pro version for only 199 $ ... coding protactors is a money-spinner ;D

Does your game crash with any dialog or just a certain one? And if so, is there anything special about it, like a special char?
Or does the game still crash, if you replace that dialog?

I'm just wondering because line 103 in my module is empty and line 104 counts the numbers of options... maybe it's the best to wait for CJs analysis.

Hey, I'm using SyncBack too :D

As for AGS games I sync to an USB stick and a FTP server, so I hope I'm pretty safe. Also if stuff gets finished I tend to burn a CD/DVD.

So you're the Danny Elfman of Indie Adventuregames ;)

Really nice stuff!

That reminds of a Family Guy episode, where Peter is granted 3 wishes from a genie - and decides to get his own theme music that plays constantly and changes depending on his mood!
Oh god, I wish I'd had no bones ;D

This tool is clearly overpriced. You can make your own protractor using something vector-based, thus accurate, such as Illustrator or CAD software or... hell, even drawing angled lines in PS and keeping it as template on separate layer.

Sure, but it's so much faster with the protractor :)

Actually, it gave me an idea. I'm using ArtiosCAD for my work, how would it benefit in making a room outlines, and then exporting vectors to Photoshop?

You mean, like creating a wireframe room in your CAD proggie and then exporting it to PS?
For people knowing how to use CAD programs, it might work. But those stuff you've posted earlier already looks very nice so I don't really see the need.

Also:
Maybe recoding that app for free is a call for the Scottish Super Hero :)

Oh, sorry about the link. But yes, that tool is incredibly expensive. There's still a trial, but I don't know, how feature limited it is...

Too bad, I'm just a php/javascript guy, so I can't recode that tool for free. Though it can't really be that hard to write such an application...

Okay, I admit, I really like tools :P  But this one is actually quite useful with working on perspective. At least it helped me speed things up.

Anyone else using this fine tool?

(btw. it's a vertical scrolling background with 3-point at the bottom and 1 point on the upper side.)

Yay, thanks for fixing that dialog gui thing! :)

Thank you all for making this the place it is!

Merry Christmas!

We should also thank kaputtnik for demanding that module :)
To be honest, I totally forgot about translations, but now it should work.

Hi,
I make it quick: I've forked akumayos weather module and this is, what came out.
It can do rain, snow, leaves, landslides, bubbles, insects and so on. It also works fine with SSHs SimpleSnow, so you can combine two effects if you like.

Demogame with source included.
Screenshots (although you won't see much on these):

very welcome. Thanks to you I could iron out two more bugs. So if you're using line numbering, you should upgrade again ;)
#2019
Could it be, that you're not using the current version?
I just re-checked 640x480, it works great. The issues you're having sound like v1.1 ;)
#2020
You still have the mousewheel ;D
But thanks for the hint, i'll look into that.
