I nominate Chick Chaser

For the hottest AGS chicks yet!

EDIT: Resized the pic.

KQ hooked me for the adventure game cause.

I loved the whole concept of KQ1: the fairy tale puzzles, getting past the rat and the leprechauns, climbing up to heaven and defeating the dragon... Surely there were some silly deaths, but that was forgivable. The rest was so original it made up for those.

KQ3 had all those spells to choose from. Admittedly, it got a bit annoying when you had to type up the EXACT recipes for potions, but I liked it all the same. I guess the step up from KQ1 and KQ2 graphics to the AGI system took KQ to a whole new dimension for me. Those graphics really rocked back then.

And to my liking, KQ4 was the best of the lot. The greatest moment for me was when I finally figured how to get the lantern and get past the cave. That puzzle had me stuck for months!

I never got into KQ5 and the later. When the text parser disappeared, KQ lost its charm.

And then came Monkey Island.

I don't think I could enjoy playing through KQ games now, but I surely loved them back then.

IMO you should probably try to shorten the table a little bit. You could also make the vertical part of the table (the one facing you, with the little brown squiggles) a bit 'taller'. That would significantly improve perspective.

I'm assuming you will include a chair at some point in time.

I wouldn't add textures. They just don't work unless youu make them yourself.

For the rest, I think it's excellent.

And I love Darth's paintover. I always do.

I applaud your idea Zooty. Keeping it simple is the way to go for us mortals.

IMO it's great start to a functional bg.

It needs a bit more detailing. The door looks pretty bare, and that couch (?) on the left looks too plain. The panel near the door lacks a bit of volume. As somebody mentioned, shading should be consistent (I'm referring to the door and the wall)

But it's pretty much usable as it is.

I don't have anything against emulating somebody else's style. I developed my own from simplified emulation of DOTT bgs. Emulating is only a starting point.

In actual fact, I quite like Yatzhee's style. I think it's extremely functional. It allows you to create lots of reasonable-looking bg's without too much effort.

I personally think it's the right way to go if you want to get your games finished and if you don't fancy yourself as a great artist.

But that's just my opinion.

So what position do you all play, back or scrum?

Wing.

Although I'm not precisely the small type.

Las Naranhas: I'm so happy there's someone like you around on these forums to back me up when I wanna go on about Rugby League ^_^

Hey, I like it too. Go the Broncos! (I used to soooo like Gorden Tallis... inspirational!)

I play rugby too, but contrary to Las, I play Union.

League is good fun, though. Touch is also ok.

'tis excellent.

One thing that kinda bothers me is mixing blurred (mostly the cars) and pixelated details (tree leafs, no-way sign) in the same bg.

IMO these tend to clash. But that's just me. It's hardly noticeable, BTW.

Also, I think the blue building on the right stands out a tiny bit too much. The color looks too bright to me.

I was soooo looking forward to this one!!!

EDIT

Played it for a bit. I love the graphics and the interface (particularly dialogue-wise.

One small comment: you may want to consider tweaking the speed/animation speed settings for Natalie, IMO she walks far too slow, and the animation frames do not seem to match her pace.

#131
Yup, thanks for pointing that out.

People had already metioned it, as Scummbuddy says, and they're fully correct.

I never thought about it when I made those two backgrounds, now there's just too much work involved to get it fixed.

If I suddenly feel the urge to set things right, I'll take your observation into account, but for the moment I've moved on. ;)

So Darth... what happened to your avatar?

:-X

Ok, ok, I'd love Nacho to give us an update on this one. It looked like it was nearly ready two weeks ago.

I second Babar.

Also, the river delta seems slightly more realistic in the first one.

I agree with a lot of the previous posts in regard to abortion. I believe it's wrong because the one killed is the kid, and nobody is taking his/her opinion into account.

Ok, there are specific circumstances that may add strong emotional aspects to the mother's choice, but the kid has certainly done nothing wrong.

Having said that...

With regard to the legislation bit, I believe couples have a right to cut it out in whichever way they please. Surely, I feel an abortion is important enough for a couple to talk things over, but each couple is a whole different story.

I have no musical talent whatsoever, so I feel kinda awkward posting here.

My suggestion, take it or leave it, is to make the tempo a bit quicker. The melody sounds a tiny bit slow and sad to me as it is. Just a tiny bit.

<<< EDIT >>>

This is what I understand by childlike and uncontrolled

But you know much more than I do about this sort of stuff.

That's very nice Txarly!

One thing: streams through cities usually get loads of crap thrown in them, so they're usually dark green and opaque (unless you're going for a fantasy-type look, in which case I think it's very nice).

Also, although there are plenty of nice little bits, I think it's still lacking some detail. Perhaps that cafeteria (is it a cafeteria?) should have some chairs and tables outside. Also, churches tend to have a noticeboard at the front.

BTW good to see some Spanish AGSers here!

I have never seen a church stuck between houses!

Churches/cathedrals/whatever are always a bit separated, all sides opened, and in visible places. Maybe it's different around the world (don't have much visas in my passport) but I don't think so anyway.

I can't see the problem there. I've seen lots of churches in between buildings...

Hey Steve, that last one's in Sydney!
#137
Oh I see...

Thanks a lot!

Oh well, I was just hoping he'd say this is the best game ever...

Good-looking games barely ever get finished. It says a lot on your behalf that you stuck with the project for so long (and kept up the quality).

Excellent stuff. From GUIs and dialogues to graphics and animations.

Congrats.

What does this mean? Is it Swedish?

Klikk deg inn på http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk og last i vei. Adventurespill av den eldre sorten.

Bruker selv Adventure Game Studio, og har sett flere bra spill der.
