Thanks, miez and minimi.

I had already tried the trace-bit-by-bit-then-glue-'em-all-together approach, but I thought I was just being a bit ...erm... primitive.

You've made me feel better.
:D

Still, if there are any other interesting ideas, I'm happy to listen.

(And I'm sure Yakspit also is, I'm not stealing the thread  ;)  ).

Just a more general question on tablets.

I have one of those WACOM ones. I've trying to trace stuff by putting my paper drawing on the tablet and tracing over it.

But I have a problem. In order to draw a whole background for a game (640x400 pixels), say, I would have to have it drawn in 7x6cm on paper, which I reckon is too small for comfort.

How do you people get around this one?

Confirmed, Roger & Lassi are a crap opening partnership. 10 runs between the two of them.

:P

So do I.

Yeah, I don't know why it happens. It's a bit of a random bug. Sometimes it'll kick you out of the game, some other times it'll be ok.

One thing I've noticed from what people write in these forums is that it's probably a good idea to save often when playing NIAR. You can't get killed and there's nothing you can do that will block your path along the game, but I find it's a bit buggy at times and it crashes. Sorry, it's only my first AGS effort.

I reckon it's ok if you're the main character, especially if you don't feel comfortable making a game about somebody else.

I couldn't tell you if mixing characters is ok. It depends on what you do, I suppose. If you made something like AGS-Man - a single character with recognisable features of various members of the community, that could turn out as an excellent entry.

Instead, if you mix a couple of members nobody knows much about, then your character will be hardly recognisable, and thus you wouldn't be playing by the rules.

It's up to you. In the end, votes will decide.

Just an aclaration about the rules.

"Illustrious" is just a general term which I intended to comprehend all members of the AGS community, that is, the game can be made about anyone.

That bathtub could be a real death trap if you add Psycho's shower scene to you shark from Jaws.

I got my act together and came up with the rules.

Given that Mittens will be held this month, MAGS should probably be somehow based on the AGS community itself.

Therefore, the only rule is that all MAGS entries must include an "illustrious" member of the AGS community as the main player. The topic is free, although Mittens is probably the most suitable environment.

JUST WON MAGS!!!

 :o :o :o

;D ;D ;D

8) 8) 8)

WOW!!! I won!!!

There was some stiff competition this month, though.

I'm sure it could have easily gone someone else's way. I was impressed with the graphics in Donnie Darko, and I especially liked the idea of Tom Hanks away.  The Faketrix had an awesome intro, worthy of a full-length game as far as I'm concerned. I never got to dl Barry Snotter (it disappeared), but the screenshot made me want to play it.

Thanks to all that voted for my game, I'm glad you liked it (you might want to have a go at "Al Gurbish in Nick it & Run!!!" now).

;) ;) ;)

Now I get to pick the rules, right?

Expect them to be flexible (I think that's why June had so many entries) and to be posted by tomorrow or the day after.

AGS rules.

That's all I have to say about that.

It's behind Burger Ming's, or to the right of the alley, if you prefer.

Anything by Frank Capra, really, "It's a wonderful life", "Meet John Doe"...

Also "Captain Courageous", "Quo Vadis" and "Casablanca"

It is certainly possible because QFG 4 1/2 used AGS and it did something similar.

But I've never got around making that sort of stuff. I guess it's like everything else in AGS. You depend on your own ingenuity.

Maybe you could try a more specific version of this question at the technical forum.

I agree with the grey/orange bit.

I personally prefer other combinations. You can check my two websites for an example. They're not necessarily great colour combinations, but you might get ideas.
