Best Art: Tie between Smooth Hide by Cassiebsg and CyberJACK by brewton

So now Cassiebsg and I have to fight to the death, right?

Sorry for being late to vote. Sorry, sorry, sorry.

Jack:

As simple as the idea is, I bet it was a hassle to get working. :)  It would have been neat if the guards had included the areas past the doors in their patrol cycle, as some of them (especially on the second level) didn't leave much time to jump from space to space or reach the portal in time to avoid being stunned. I really enjoyed this little game, so it wins BEST GAMEPLAY.

The first time I started the game, I was expecting a cutscene. Then, the UFO appeared and abducted me, and the text "GAME OVER" appeared. I burst out laughing because it told me exactly what I had to do. I love the little details in the audio, like the UFO getting louder as it gets closer. I never made it to the end, I thought it was limitless. Perhaps a fun extra mode would be a time trial, or an endless mode which adds extra UFOS. Your art is great, too.

I love the artstyle you chose here, it feels very hopeless and bleak. Lydia presented me with a lot of questions once it had ended, and the unconventional perception shift feature provided a new and interesting means of problem solving.

Cool little game! I wasn't too sure what to do at first, but I got through it! Very wholesome. You've got a very unique style, and it shows through!

This game just made me laugh and laugh. The slick animated introduction sequence combined with the hastily drawn art was a great combination. I did find myself having to restart the game a few times, particularly when going into buildings. Apart from that, it is a very rewarding game.

Sure thing.

Creamy, that's because I spent too much time on making the game art. I'm not very fast.
Spoiler
I put the wire puzzle in because I had 1h left and I couldn't figure out how to get him into the sewer. I had a very different idea of how I wanted the game to go, but had to scrap it all for time, unfortunately.

I might work on the game in the next few weeks and make it all work the way I wanted it to.

I'm still collecting my thoughts on the entries. Thanks for your votes, Cassie and Twirlly! :)

Done!

Well, not even nearly.

But the game doesn't crash.

cut a cable right below the laser fence. What was that about the warrior robot?

Thanks, completed the game with both endings now. The warrior robot thing was just a reference to The Five Doctors, a Doctor Who serial. ;D

Look for something that lets out a lot of heat that could melt ice. Perhaps some kind of machine.

You've got to find something useful that's frozen. Check in areas where there's a lot of ice for items that you can't get.

You haven't found the right tools yet. Oh, by the way, can I have a piece of gum? And boil the kettle, would you? ;)

AGS (adventuregamestudio.com) is actually the 5th entry in Google. Google has regional differences, so maybe the top page results for me here in the US are different from someone, say, in Latvia.
Just my £0.02.

EDIT: Also, Google has personalized search results based on search history. If you log in with a Gmail account you can get results that Google thinks are more likely to be what you're looking for.

The Rumpus Room / Re: How did you find AGS?
Tue 03/07/2007 07:48:36
I played adventure games from a very young age. I learned to read and write from commands in Space Quest 1 and I probably can blame Tim Schafer for my wacky sense of humour. I found AGS way back in 1997, when I was maybe about 8 or 9. I used to go into work with my dad on Saturdays (He was a BOFH and did maintenance on the computers). Anyhow, I was obsessed with finding a way to make my own games. I used to use Altavista and search for things. One day I found this program called "Adventure Creator". It perked my interest, but being so young I didn't understand exactly how much work it would take to make my own game. So, it lay forgotten for a few years. Then in about 2001 I picked it up again (now with the shiny new AGS name).

Ah, hey Eigen! It's been years, old buddy! ;D
What you should do is camp inside the cellar. When you hear the lock being cut, yell "WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?". That should freak whoever it is out enough not to do it anymore. It's probably a kid or something just trying a bit of vandalism. If it's a huge fat f*ck, then you're kind of in trouble if he takes offense.

By the way, do you have my new MSN address? It'd be great to catch up. ;D

I'm stuck at the same place dronon was in the first post but I lack the following information:
Spoiler
How do you make the key? Is it made from the two metal cylinder things? If so, how do I join them together?

Also, KhrisMUC:
Spoiler
You know that battery you found on the robot? Did you put it in the cartridge machine? Did you know you can remove it from the machine?
