I like some of the ideas here:

Are we gonna have a new Background Blitz anytime soon?(nod)

I do enjoy those, so I'd love to see it again.

Lastly, I'd love to see OROW come back.  Maybe some time this summer would be good?

I second that, July would be perfect for me :)

Very late, but I really want the OROW competition to stay alive as well. I could host one next summer maybe? Or someone else if they feel inclined. I really enjoyed hosting OROW 9 and wouldn't at all mind doing it again. I think it has to be summer though which makes my timing for coming back to these parts of the internet pretty bad. :=

BTW: Is OROW 9 the latest one? That was 3 years ago now  Time flies.

Yes, I believe OROW 9 was the most recent.  There always seems to be a sizable gap between these competitions.

I'd love to see OROW again.  It's tough, because I have limited time and would only be able to give about 3 days to the project, but I've always enjoyed the competition either way.

Summer seems far away, maybe having a competition in winter would be good?  And maybe we could have a TWOR (Two Weeks One Room) or something like that?  Just a suggestion for those lacking time.

I'd like to start a competition for "box art cover"...

I like the idea of the Box Art Competition...

Maybe going with a theme like most of the other competitions would be better than a specific game. Or maybe something like the game pitches.

This is a good suggestion.  I think that the competition will draw more participants this way, and people can be more free to create anything.  Like a Game Pitch Competition, but instead of using words to pitch the game, you simply use a single image of the front of the box.  No words aside from the title.  So, like a Box Pitch Competition.

Or everyone should be free to choose any game from the archive that they did not create.  This makes it less redundant, adds freedom, and encourages people to go looking through the archive for the game they choose.

Both ideas could work.  2 Box Art Contests...

There has already been a box art illustration workshop:
http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=48770.0 and
http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=48852.0

Would be nice to have another one.

Don't forget the Monster Workshop:

http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=48324.0

I'd be open to more Workshops.  They are fun, and they motivate me to actually work.  I need all the motivation these days.

:-D

And finally, here's another suggestion I'd like to throw out there.  I know it's a long shot, but it could be great:

How about a collective project?  Like Draculator II: Byte of the Draculator...

http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=44731.0
http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/games/game/1491/

Of course, there would have to be a project lead, someone who has the time and patience to put all of the pieces together.  If I had the time, I'd volunteer, but I do not.  I'd gladly participate, though.  I think many would.

So how about it?

For assistance:

I quite like the sprite.  The hair could use a bit more work though, as much is lost when scaled down.

Congratulations to the winners!  There was a lot of competition this time, and it was difficult to vote.  Everyone did so well.

The bottom left of the moon is the only issue I see.  That one lonely pixel.

Looks great though!  I love it!

Congratulations on the release!  I've been looking forward to this for some time.  Happy to see it finally out in the world.

Best of luck to you, I hope it is a huge success!

Inside These White Walls - Dactylopus
Nobody has guessed mine yet.  The above is actually the game that got my vote.

Spoiler

The Grapes Are Always Sweeter
- This is an interesting premise for a story.  I like the Italian setting.

Amandarin
- The idea of playing as an imaginary friend is very intriguing.  I would love to see how the hallucinations are depicted visually.  There is a lot of potential for a variety of stories.  It reminds me of Fran Bow, but hopefully a little less goth.  This nearly got my vote.

Young Crone
- I like the concept of a good witch that helps people, but this didn't really draw me in as it did others.  Congratulations on the win.

What Could Have Been
- As interesting as this could be, it does feel a bit slow paced and sad.

Dragonville
- I love the idea of a game based around dragons fighting back against human hunters, but the idea of them building a city together lost me.

Background Battle
- This has a lot of potential to be a great story, possibly a little bit of a thriller.  I imagine it somewhat like Technobabylon meets the Terminator, with less action.

Inside These White Walls
- This had my vote.  I love the mystery and intrigue surrounding the closed area of the ship.  The pitch is set up well, I like the last couple of sentences that pull me into the story.  To be successful, the mystery has to deliver.

Naive
- This sounds like a relationship-based game.  That can make for some different gameplay, but that wasn't enough to draw me in.

The Antidote
- I like this story.  The futuristic society sounds interesting, but the story could even work in a fantasy setting with a dying king.  The plot would have to keep me entertained.

Meet Me in the Rings
- This sounds like a fun, classic comedy Adventure Game.  It reminds me of Space Quest and Monolith Burger, and the characters sound quirky and exciting.  Hopefully the jokes would deliver.  This nearly had my vote.

Verb Coins
- I like the meta nature of a game and story built around the gameplay.  There are a lot of ways that this could be done well.

It was a lot of fun getting to enter this time!  I'm glad I took the opportunity to participate, and I am happy to see that people enjoyed my pitch.  I'd love to make my game, but it's a bit bigger than I could do alone.  Hopefully some of these ideas will be produced, because I'd love to play!

Best of luck in court!  I'm sorry it had to come to this, but you have to do what is right for you and your art.

I voted for Major Arcana, so I'm glad it won!  Congrats to Durinde, and thank you to everyone for participating.  It was great fun to read and consider them as games.

My least favorite was the Christmas game.  Those always turn me off.

josiah, I saw that animation quite a while back. Thought it was funny that the very last scene looks like a limp penis laying on the desk.
I don't usually see that much blood around a limp penis.  Am I doing something wrong?

I just go if they aren't physically handicapped then they must be mentally handicapped, but still pisses me off.
That's always my reaction, too!

Another great background.  The plants look great, and I can't wait to see them animated with the same care as you placeholders, but I really enjoy the detail in the rocks.  Those are beautifully textured.

As for the question, I have a feeling he is about to get into that pool of water.

I'm going to venture a guess that #11 belongs to DBoyWheeler.

I'm sorry that this controversy continues to damage you and your game.  It's ridiculous that it's even an issue at all.

I had a pitch ready to go this time, but decided to put that on hold as I will be endeavoring to make that game a reality.  I was unable to think up a new pitch in time, but I swear I will enter one of these contests!

That said, I did read all of these pitches and they are all interesting in their own ways.  Ultimately, one was a clear winner to me so my vote was easy to cast.

Good luck to everyone, and thanks for sharing your ideas!

I think they thaw a little and shift during transport.  But either way, it has always ground my gears as well...

I doubt that... They would be stored flat and therefore any bump in the road wouldn't do much. Also, frozen goods are usually not allowed to thaw majorly at any point during transport by existing companies.

By which I mean: Any company that lets its frozen goods thaw out to a major degree before reaching the consumer probably doesn't exist anymore.

I'd say the original post is spot on saying that the initial prep is at fault.
Fair enough.
