iSTVAN, that looks an excellent game! I am into the issue of homelessness and your game is a kinda a good way of making people aware of the issue plus it looks like a lot of fun. Keep up the work I will be looking to getting that game once its made :) Cheers

Hi I have been doing tests on a game I am practicing making and I clicked on the inventory at the gui and the inventory box came up, no inventory in it yet - not up to this stage - but when I try to close the box it wont close at all. Any problem I need to be aware of?

Another problem, where I made a walk-behind hotspot of a tree, yes it kind of works that I can see my character go behind the tree, and character stops at the baseline in the right place that I meant it to be at which is good but if I move her a little bit straight onwards down, still in the walk-behind area, she goes right through the tree. What is the solution for this particular problem? Thanks for your time :)

EDIT:
Thanks you guys for the help, I am getting there with it, getting it slowly. Now umm sorry to ask again, but does anyone know how to solve the inventory box pop up box - not being able to close this box at all...?

I have just started to make a practice game - learning to script at this stage so pardon my naiveness and I guess seeing this as a beginners thread I took the risk to post here. I have the start room and when it comes up after I open Test Game, I see the GUI is still there, but it has a narrow black line over it (I know there is extra GUI values in the AGS editor that I am working in but can't seem to delete them....) well the GUI rectacular box at the top just won't go, I know there is a way to stop it from being there all the time, but I have read and read everything, looked for the solution - can't find (sorry). I am sure most of you will know what silly thing I am doing and maybe you can direct me on how I can solve this. Also when I open the inventory box, and I want to close it, it wont close). This is a very very new noob that I am, lol :o

Ok that is easy. The problem is also, how can I edit the script to have the bird sit on the character's shoulder whenever the player stops the character's walk any time? If someone knows how to tweak this, that would be great!

Hi I know this thread was from a little while back but I am also going to have a small character follow my character for the most part of the game. I just wonder what happens - that I have my main character having 7 total frames for her walk in every direction and the small follow character having only 2 frames - is this ok? If not, what must I do? Help much appreciated for this newbie :).

WOW those backgrounds by you talented members are just sooooo fantastic! I don't know which ones to vote for as I really like them all. U all done great! I look fwd to seeing the winners but I would also say everyone is a winner for trying, this competition helps us all develop our computer art graphics skills for games we make.

And what are the games of the screenshots 1, 11, 14. I know its silly that a game lover of 20 years like myself doesnt know where some of those screenshots come from but there are some games I am yet to play lol! If you could give me the names of them that would be great and I will jump to ebay and buy them! :).

Sorry... I am new to this I don't know yet how it works, if there are conditions I must read, I can't see them. Thanks I am learning anyway. Anyhow... thank you for telling me which is which for the screenshots.

Gypsysnail - lol well I was nicknamed Snail 11 years ago after being silly with a game - some of you being game lovers probably will know this game, Freddy Frontier Pharkas lol. Well the snail stampede that happened on that game, one day I was playing and up to that part when I decided to be silly with my friends and got a snail close up and imitated the cute little foolish snail and my friends said the imitation was so on the mark and the nick has stuck since hehehe. I am odd and proud to be that way :D. Then I went by and still go by the nick rebelsnail (and have a website on this - its down at the moment tho, under reconstruction sorry). Gypsy snail is a recent addition because I love to travel and love all things gypsy, magical spiritual and imaginative ;). But snail is my true trademark hahaha.

Snails in gold lining with silver trails cascading out of the suitcase in their wake!

I'll put in my bit - I like the graphics, I guess our tastes are all different, but the exchange student's one and Ali's both appeal to me and I would be intrigued to buy the games for the story as well as the graphics. I agree too if the lines had been thick black ones, I wouldnt like it so much. The thick lines in colour (paled out a little - pale making it a good contrast) do make it look cartoonish and I can't put my finger on what makes it look tasteful and attracts me to the game - going to look for it on ebay ;). Ahem just looked there, not there so where would I be able to find it - being in Australia. Is it for sale online? Thanks for introducing me to the game ;) Always on the look out for a new adventure game to add to my collection! :)

The Rumpus Room / Re: How did you find AGS?

I found it not so long ago. I had originally gotten AGI but gave up on it as it wasnt working for me either, and forgot about it all when I got too busy with my studies. I have only just recently revisited my great love for games and thought about making my own games. So I looked for a way to do this and emailed someone who was a game developer and he referred me to another game developer. Must I mention both are real talented and make great games. Anyway the 2nd game developer told me about AGS so I came here to have a look and was hooked! I have spent the last week reading all the manuals and threads :) and have now been working on graphics, backgrounds, sprites and characters. Very excited! A HUGE thank you to CJ for making this program and to the forum members for helping and supporting each other at this forum site :). This would have to be my all time fav forum site out of many I have visited in the past.

Hi, I know this is going to sound silly, but being fully deaf and seeing today's latest games I am freaking out that people could be disappointed by my game if I don't have sound effects and music in my game (or good/suitable ones for particular scenes etc) and I am wondering if maybe anyone can help me with determining what sort of music and sound effects each midi number has? I am so clueless on this part even though I seem to be going well with making the game and following all the manual stuff and thread help (and yes I do know how to upload things :) ). I have read everything and all threads (there is a lot, so hard to locate all on this particular issue I have here). If anyone can help (or maybe offer some music styles that would suit my travelling adventure game) that would be fantastic. Cheers!
