Hints & Tips / Re: infinite monkeys
Mon 03/07/2006 20:13:49
Thanks Fizzii and Radiant for the hints.  I'm now generally where everybody else is.  A couple of things I have been able to do that I don't see mentioned are:

Spoiler
I can give the crab to the guy standing in front of McDragons and he gives me a dragon egg and game board in return.  I can eat the dragon egg but nothing happens.  Who knows what the "red herring" is for.   :P  Knowing this game, I bet it has a crucial purpose.

Man, I'm finding this game incredibly tough so far!

Spoiler
How does one get the feather off of the angel?  I don't see a feather anywhere around him.

Spoiler
How does one distract the zombie hotel manager?  I've been trying to do different things to the ball but not having any luck.

Spoiler
Once the whale shoots me off to Amsterdam, I can't return to the prior screens.  Is there a way to do this, say for example to return to the zoo screen?

Hints & Tips / Re: Hallway of Adventures

Thanks guys for the further clarification on the door puzzle!Ã,  I think I spent 4 hours trying to figure it out last night with no luck.Ã,

Edit: Finished the game.  This was a very strong entry for the OROW competition.  I'm impressed with the graphics and how one section melds into the next.  The Heist is a good game, but Hallway of Adventures stands right alongside the best entries.

Blizzaga...

Spoiler
You're going to need to do something with the glass jar to get an object so that you can "signal" the left door to open.

Hi Steve,

Thanks, I finally got the colors puzzle and got the gold.  Still trying to work out the right hand door puzzle.  :=

Hints & Tips / Hallway of Adventures

I've been playing this neat game from the 4th OROW contest but am stuck.

Spoiler
I have the maginifying glass, skeleton hand holding boiled mushroom, 4 keys, and a pickaxe.  I got the door to the left to open but can't figure out how to get to the black book.  Around the librarian, there are six stones one can push, but I can't figure out the right combo of 4.  I've tried to mimic the colors of the leaves on the painting in various combos but no luck so far.  Same for the door on the right.  12 holes, 4 keys.  I've taken the advice of the librarian to keep my surroundings in mind and position the keys based on how the tree, rock, water, and sun are positioned on the screen.  If the dots are labeled 1-12 with 1-3 being top row, 4-6 second row, etc.  I placed the sun in 3, tree in 4, water in 8, and rock in 11.  I've tried a few other possibilities too but again no luck.

Thanks Scotch for providing the link, and thanks Ishmael for giving me a link to the winners and game titles/authors.  Sorry to hear the thread got deleted.

Hello,

Can anyone tell me what happened to the games for the 4th OROW competition that recently ended.  There was a thread in the competitions forum about it but now it's gone.  If someone could direct me to a link containing the zip file for this competition's entrees I'd appreciate it!

Rosie, I think he meant...

Spoiler
He figured out how to free James Peris from being tied up in the gym by using the rope.  He was wondering what to do next but I assume he figured out to take the hockey stick and give it to Mar.

Hey Jet,

Finished your game.  I think your documentation says it all.  Short but cute entry.

Spoiler
Extra points for attacking a defenseless child lol.

Gotta give you credit for having an entry to this month's MAGS.  :)

Just finished James Peris, and I was quite entertained!  The graphics were very nice and detailed.  I enjoyed the wide variety of music, both original and borrowed.  Puzzles were varied and mostly made sense.  You definitely put a lot of thought into the puzzles and how many optional puzzles there were.  Given that I finished the game with only 731 points, I missed a lot.  So, the replay value is good.  I'll be trying again in a few weeks to see if I can't find out more.

Overall, extremely nice job!  I voted on the link you provided.  One thing I'd mention is you might consider putting a mature warning on the game given some of the graphic touches are pretty risque.   :=

Finally finished...good game!  Got 731 points so even the 200 extra the quiz at the end gives didn't net me enough for the prize.  :-\
#93
Thanks!  Hehe, can't believe I'd missed that.  Looks like I need to go back to adventuring 101.

Game looks good from the little I've played of it.  Can't even leave the first room though.  Not sure what I'm doing wrong as there doesn't seem to be any exits.

Woohoo!  I finally finished this masterpiece of a game thanks to 43 pages (and counting) of hints!  Super tough puzzles at times but well worth playing.  It figures that a walkthrough comes out right when I'm at the end.  :=

Thanks wretched for dedicating so much of your time over the past year (with an injured hand no less!) so that we can all be so entertained with Bog.

Thanks Jane and Fliegemich for the hints.

Hey Wretched, did you notice that hint threads for 3 of your games are still on page 1 of the hints forum?  Crave, Where's My Hat'ma and of course your most devious effort yet, Bog's Adventures.  I bow down to your evil greatness in designing puzzles within puzzles within puzzles.  ;D

Locust, to get the bone from sky...

Spoiler
You're on the right track.  You need to walk to the edge of the wooden hand and then use one more item on the bone to snag it.  It should be in your inventory.

Oh man, I am so close now but am stuck again with 240 points.

Spoiler
I'm at the part where I need to cross the bridge with the twin demons.Ã,  I have the bubble with their name reversed.Ã,  I try to put on the goldfish bowl but it says it's too dirty.Ã,  I've tried everything I can think of to clean the thing from getting dunked in the ocean, to washing it in the river, etc.Ã,  Also tried using all inventory items on it as a desperation tactic.

Spoiler
Also, where is this secret island people are talking about with the birds and turtle?Ã,  I have yet to find it.Ã,  Thanks.

Spoiler
Do you have anything in your inventory that has the potential to grow?  Like say, for example something with seeds in it?

Thanks wretched!

Spoiler
I was able to clean the plaque off the monsters tooth before, but I will go back and see if I can do anything else with it's teeth.
