its hydrogen ain't it? ;) But if we do get off, it will reduce population pressure. Earth can not take much more of an increase in population and industrialisation. SO much has already been lost. On the other hand, yes, we need to figure out how to make space flight uber cheap, so we can create a true frontier.

yes, there is certainly a disturbance in the force. I mean, they have even deleted my comments, which I did make sure to be well thought out and spell checked, when I asked them to go see a video that provided evidence for my point. After asking me, and I did , check out their videos. I have seen creationist vs evolutionist debates that went better.
[edit] that's okay,  but space is important to me. I truly believe if we don't get off this planet in vast numbers SOON, Earth is toast. Some people have argued to me we should spend the money on the environment, and my argument is "Get the pressure off earth, so we don't harm it any more then we do." Of coerce, we should do research into alternative energy, because, the resources we have can't sustain over the long term.

General Discussion / Did we go to the moon?
Wed 19/12/2007 04:34:29
Did we go to the moon? I think we did, and I think many hoax believers resort to manipulation and outright forgery to prove their point. The name calling and mockery on youtube on any video that states either opinion is just atrocious. They harp on about small effects that if taken alone might mean something, but if taken in the larger picture prove nothing. Refuse to listen to evidence, and are downright rude if someone remotely disagrees with them. To me the evidence is overwhelming, and though questions deserve to be asked, the disgusting attitudes of all parties involved as well as the stick their hands in their ears "lalala" stance many take when presented with countering evidence frankly disgusts me. Can we do better? Can the brave men and woman of AGS, pull this off? Can we be more mature the a bunch of youtubers? Lets find out!

You play the deputy and you are desperately in love with the sheriffs daughter, and she thinks your cute too. Only her papa, the sheriff, stands in your way. Then, a gypsy fortune teller accidently dumps the "the spirit of theatro" into a nearby pond. No harm no fowl, 'cept some Shakespearean ducks right? Alas, the sheriff takes a dip in said pond for his yearly bath, and he is possessed by THE SPIRIT OF THEATRO! All good right? I mean, now your free to court his daughter, and if the hay seed town folk are exposed to a little culture, where is the bad? Unfortunately, the Shakespearean spirit now wants to make EVERYBODY in the town as Elizabethan as he is. Can you stop him? Can you gain the sheriffs daughters hand? For suth,I know not, but I think it woulds make a ripping good game.

The only way a computer would know the number of unique visiters is if it one] loaded a cookie on to each computer or b] read their ip and hoped they were using broadband. There may be other ways but...

Well my old one was of Lenny Loosejocks from E-Zone. E-zone was my first fave gaming site back just before 9/11
However in light of the holiday season, and my great fandomness for Calvin and Hobbes I chose this Calvin avatar. His look of bewilderment and wonder in this coming holiday season matches my own.

I think people DO identify themselves with an abstract group quite often. What is patriotism or any kind of nationalism or team sport or school spirit, or cliques for that matter? We identify with our non-genetic clans all the time. We WANT to identify with those groups. Yes it is wrong to judge more on the group image rather then the person as an individual. But that doesn't mean a certain amount of affiliation with abstract groups isn't healthy.

Hello, My Name is Joshua Sinclair, or Lo_Res_Man as I am known here.
I am looking for some one to redesign my blog. Someone who knows html and is a rather good graphic artist as well. I have good idea what I want, just not how to do it. I like the basic construction of it, but I would like some added features that only html can provide. As well I would like a graphical overhaul. Though the design is sound, millions of others I am sure use the same template. SO I want something new, different. If interested please post relevant examples of your work. As well as time goes on I will go into more detail of what it is I want. As well we can discuss payment options. We can do barter and trade, I do some work for you and you do some work for me etc. Or payment by check or money order. Sorry I can't do Paypal, don't have a credit card. Thank you for your time and I hope we can reach a mutually satisfactory agreement.
Yours Truly

Ahem, erm... *cough* now I know there is nowhere near enough to make a list of 1rst person adventures AKA Myst Clones, that would be any good...but, I, well, I think Myst is an important adventure game. Wether you love it or hate it, you should at least give it a try. I loved it by the way, the music, the ambiance, yes even MOST of the puzzles. Its something special, even if it spawned a whole legion of crap. Now it doesn't really fit into any of those lists, and like I said, there isn't enough good first person adventures to make a list...but, but, Myst deserves something. That's what I think anyway.

Happy Birthday to Lo_Res_Man. Now able legally buy cigarettes and beer and watch porn in places with an over 21 rule, its party on dudes. Just kidding, I don't smoke, and I rarely drink. And as for porn, since when has AGE ever stopped me?

I don't think games should follow art trends except as inspiration. Video games can be art in there own right. They can be inspired by the  emotions and themes of other work, using visual cues that motivate them. But it is a distinct art form, and it shouldn't just use these themes mindlessly as a gimmick.

To me, art is when you are trying to make art. It may not be good art, thats for the critics to figure out, but its still art. It all depends on your intention. "Mourir en Mer" to me was art.

Technically it wasn't rotoscoping, it was more like real life cel shading. They gave the actors these wicked makeup jobs, then processed the images to make them look "cel"-ish. I just downloaded the demo, and yes it looks awesome. I think the reason they didn't use all the frames, is well it would have been impossible to fit all the frames on one cd. And disc switching ala riven can throw ME out of a gameworld.

General Discussion / Re: What is this melody??

It uses a lot of themes, from a lot of classical music, but it doesn't feel very "united" stylisticly. I agree it feels like a bunch of differant music, in fact might BE a bunch of differant music, all mashed together by some guy in a recording studio.

On a smaller scale its nice to change the NPC reactions, so different conversation topics or comments as the player progresses through the game, based on what the player (or NPC) has experienced. You could also try and put in smaller subplots between NPCs, and generally hide things in the game for the player to discover, to make the game seem bigger and like there's more going on in the world than just the central character and their story.
In other words, make the story better, not the technology. Those good princibles in any work of fiction, interactive or otherwise
