I think Rumour wanted the opposite of that, not working within small time limits but games in which certain developments proceed slow, so that it's sufficient to check the game every 30 minutes or so.

I think there's plenty of browser games that work like this. I remember playing one myself; you could build up a space fleet and conquer planets or something. Certain upgrades needed hours or days to be researched. Unfortunately, I don't know what it was, and it's certainly not online anymore. But no doubt there's hundreds of games like that on the net.

It seems this problem has been solved (at least for me) with the new Firefox 5 update.

Does anyone of you have loominous' email address and could PM it to me? He hasn't been around for quite a while, and I need to reach him. Thanks :D

Kabukibear, that rendition of the Freddy Pharkas theme is awesome :D Good work :)

I'll try to enter, but every theme from a game I like is too hard to cover ;D

I had a lucid dream once, and one of the first things I decided to do is to test if I can wake me up. I guess that was kind of stupid ;D

Although I usually can't control my dreams, it happens very often that I get aware of that I'm having a nightmare. In this situation, I can deliberately choose to wake up by killing myself in the dream. That's some kind of lucid, I guess.

It's a good start, I think. However, the desktop strikes me as way too low. Compared to the books, the desk's height is less than two books. Also, the LCD seems to small for me and the keyboard is too flat.
Other than that, I'd like to see more :D

Two days ago, I sucked at my final exams. Out of all the the possible text passages, both profs confronted me with those that I found the hardest. As I result, I sucked at the translation and came out with the worst possible grades. And as sugar on top, the guy from the examination office shook his head and asked me, how I, apparently having no sense for language whatsoever, could have made it this far at all. Thanks, bitch ...
Now to decide whether to do the exams again or just live with it.

When people get old, they tend to be abandoned by their relatives. Some of them get to live in a run-down retirement home. But the lucky ones spend the rest of their life in the Last Refuge.

2x

Don't have time to finish it. The shadows look like crap, the door's a bit bland, and there's still stuff missing, chairs etc. Anyway, I don't have time to refine it, so here it is.

Man, what should be a nice place to live now looks like a friggin bunker or something. Fail!

Brilliant Job! :D
I like "clown with no audience" best. Now put some lyrics in there, and it could be a famous pop/rock-song :)

Okay, time's over. We had four totally different entries, which made them hard to compare and difficult to decie a winner. First, some comments to each of you:

TomatosInTheHead
+ I like the idea of converting an image into sound. It certainly has a unique feeling of spaceships drifting in orbits, computers running and calculating.
- It's not much of a tune, I fear, and would classify rather as background ambience than a piece of music.

jon_swe
+ The background with that scratchy white noise, distorted wind thing sets the atmosphere of loneliness.
+ Instead of portraying a gloomy, dark scene, as a spaceship drifting in space would normally be portrayed, you chose a bright, exploring theme. I could easily imagine the ship flying in front of colourful nebulas and distant planets, until it finally would arrive on some strange new world.

Pinback
+ An action-packed theme in space; the story you describe is vividly converted into music and effects.
+ Great beat! Good choice of instruments.

ptpt88
+ Classic instrumentation; well used
+ Conveys a feeling of lonelines, but also has some kind of storyline near the end
- It's a bit too bland, there could have been more variety

Because it struck me as the most immersive, I choose Pinback's song as the winning tune.

Thanks for the great entries, guys! :D

Congratulations, Pinback! You're next. :)

I LOVE Serial Experiments Lain, but yes, I agree, it's very weird ...and wired. But it leaves you with that "what the heck was this anime about?"-feeling, which I like.

Spiral kept me entertained. It's not too serious and a sometimes very clever mystery series.

As for movies, I can recommend Jin-Roh (quite interesting story, although slow at times).
I recently watched The Sky Crawlers; this is a VERY SLOW one, but I kind of liked it.

I liked Monster (at least the episodes I've seen). It's very long and elaborate, around 70 episodes or so, but I enjoyed each of the first like 26 episodes I've seen. It's pretty realistic in tone, somewhat depressing but also optimistic. Backdrops and animation are top-notch. -- Damn, have to finish that one, already ;D

For me it feels faster than ever. Big improvement!

But I, too, have that flickering text problem.

The deadline is hereby postponed until next tuesday :D

If there's no other entry until midnight, I end this with TomatosInTheHead winning by default.
