Ok, it seems it's after the deadline now, but anyway. . . though I searched my hard drives and found some stuff to put here, some older stuff. . . (everything made in MS Paint). Well, take a look:

(Plymouth Fury '58 sprite -- my first and made just for fun)

Never before released ASYLUM (now INSANITY) game stuff:

(Corsair hi-res character design)

(Cursor pack, in order: use, look, talk and wait)

(A few item graphics: rusted blade, personal ID and a piece of broken glass)

Yes, know it's not too much, but that's all. ;)

Hey, very nice entries so far! But I've had a problem with yours, JudgeDeadd: the game file simply doesn't exist on server.

Pardon me, but I haven't got any stuff to release. :( I'm still working on my game, Insanity, but unfortunately didn't prepare anything in time, I'm just a bloody lazy man. Anyway, I'd publish some background sketches, but it probably doesn't fit the thread idea (great idea by the way, Kinoko). So maybe next time. . .

Ok, now (before I'll start working on a next view) I need some C&C on the sideview I've added yesterday. Hit Ctrl+F5, I was changing it a few times.

I feel his face needs some improvement, but have no idea how to do that. Can anyone help? :'(
#224
Okay, gentlemen. . . but what's with the sprite? ;)

I agree with Nihilyst, the previous version was better. I've done a small edit in Paint Shop Pro and added some fur and leather effects, then played with colour channels:

I was editing only the cloth's outlook (without taking care of these captions), so it probably looks too dark and unclean. Anyway, hope it'll be even a bit useful. ;)

you drew that in MS paint! :o

Yep, everything except jeans.

I have some troubles with shading the jacket in Prog's style. In what program did you make yer paintover? Bet it's Photoshop? I've got only a small experience of using this beast. :-\

Thanx a lot for your comments!

As for the bridge, tis a tad repetitive... And the horse neigh is quite random, but is still pretty neat.
You're right, but I've planned to put some vocals there, after the first repetition (4 lines of the text).

When I hear the intro, I expect a slow high-pitched melody to come, but the song ends there.
Also I've planned that. Mean a next guitar track with some soft tune in the intro's background and the main riff played after that, but I've forgotten about this song and just lost the motivation.

I have a lot of other guitar rehearsal pieces of this song (largely crap), but don't know if I ever finish it. Probably not, but who knows? ;)

Thanx for the tip, Drawken -- it'll be really useful.

Prog! Your paintovers always blow me down and this one, as well is almost perfect! :) It truly reminds me of early 90's Sierra games and I just love your shading style -- it's close to that, what I want. Thanx a lot!

Oh, and by the way. . . his jeans should be the most detailed part, 'cause I've done them in PSP (instead of the jacket and MR. Paint). ;)

Hmm. . . Guybrush's lastest thread has simply inspired me to put some of my early guitar works here for you to some C&C. So there are two parts of my old unfinished song, "Szron" (which in English means a white frost), made for my project called Arcanus Mysterii (currently on hold).

http://www.geocities.com/arcanusmysterii/ags/intro.mp3
- an introduction, it'd be played at the beginning

http://www.geocities.com/arcanusmysterii/ags/bridge.mp3
- and an acoustic bridge, played in the middle of the song

Both of them have been recorded by me, by use of friend's electric guitar and my own bass, but there're some samples (sounds of waves and the horse neighs), taken from Internet.

I'm curious whaddya think?

Ok, thanx Guybrush. I've just uploaded the new edit (Ctrl+F5 to refresh). Better? ;)

Quote from: Guybrush Peepwood on Tue 21/06/2005 17:03:17As for the lyrics... It's possible to have christian themed lyrics with metal that aren't satanic, check www.desolation-online.de for example

Hmm. . . ok, but by the way, I can see some nonsense of playing Christian DEATH / BLACK metal. Both adjectives have pejorative meaning. On the other hand, I heard about an "unblack" or "white" metal not so long ago. Anyway, even though I no longer listen to metal (since a year), I'm still having some weird memories about guys who wear corpse-paints, nails or bullets around their belts and singing about God. It's funny.

It's just my point of view and it doesn't relate to your project. Good luck with that! ;)

Not so bad, GP. I wonder did you record everything (except those automatic drums and keyboards) on live instruments? Speaking of guitar, I can't hear any bass. . . :)

Anyway, I like this piece, but something is wrong when it comes to 1:25 and some weird sound appears in the background (something, which sounds like a muted robotic voice). And yes, it's a bit repetitive. ;D

As well I don't understand the one thing: Do you wanna play death metal with Christian lyrics? ;)

What about your song, [lgm] -- it's nice blues tune, I like it. ;)

der.uwe: You always do good paintovers, so this one's as well - almost perfect. The only thing that I'd change is that he looks like crooked to his right side a little. I love your colour edit - that's it!!1

Chicky: Not bad, but aren't these boots a bit too big / weird? Drawing shoes is my real horror, I must say. . . Also, I like your hands edit -- I made it very quickly, without paying attention to details.

EDIT No. 3: Added the right sideview.

EDIT No. 2: I've followed the ProgZmax's tip and downloaded Pro Motion, a software for pixelwork. It was my first try on this stuff, but anyway I think it's not so bad. Well, take a look:

Feel it isn't the last edit for this character. Things I've improved this time: face (I like that one on Prog's edit, but I don't want to change the previous personage of this character), leather (shading, as you see) and legs so simply everything. Also broaden his torso and legs by these 2 pixels.

So whaddya think this time?

EDIT No. 1: Ok, new shot here:

I used up the der.uwe's pallete and added the following things: legs, shoes, a metal rod in his right hand (also edited) and shaved his shapes (as well face) a little. Probably the head is too big now and something is wrong with his left hand. I'll change it soon. C&C would be pleased.

I think the beard looks wierd, but that could just be me. I have no idea how to improve it.

What do you mean by that? Is it better now?

ORIGINAL:

Hi! I was boring tonight (it's 12:30 AM now), so finally I've started working on a sprite for my upcoming game, Insanity (still the working title). After around 15 minutes of MS Paint work I drew this guy in leather jacket. . . and certain problem has appeared.

I need some advice, unfortunately I don't have any idea to do the legs good. Maybe I'm just tired after the whole day of work or something. . . Dunno. Anyway it'll be nice to see your attempts here. He's supposed to wear a blue or black jeans and some black trainers / shoes / boots (don't know what'll fit better).

It's just an ordinary GIF -- it loops repeatedly. ;)

When I first saw one (I think it was in Skurwy's signature), I thought that I must make one for myself too. And now I have one. It's pretty useful, lets people easily see your game progress.

So now everyone has the status bar in their sig? ;) Anyway, if you making a game, it's really clean way to explain the game progress, but you must change the status by hand, there aren't any BBcode scripts.

I deleted mine, -- but if the progress reach something around 20%, I'll bring it back. What for boasting that you make only those crappy 3% of your game? ;)

Sad story, InCreator. . . But hey, if you bought it in a normal store, you must have a guarantee!

I had something similar -- twice, as far as I remember. In my case I bought those "cats and dogs" on Allegro (something like eBay), but it was something around 70$ and nothing more. Talking about GameBoy Advance with terribly scratched display and a dud of GBA game (Nintondo).

If you have the nerves, you can ask for your money back and buy something another.

Hope you solve that problem. Anyway. . . good luck!

Honestly? I can't see any bigger difference between 2nd and 3rd version. Maybe (at least I guess) it's my monitor's fault, too crappy to distinguish between similar RGB channels. Dunno. Anyway, 1st's my favourite -- very nice background! ;)

Yes, just add more details and erase those black outlines. This Earth picture shall be helpful:
