I wonder what Yahtzee would have to say about this...

Why?

I've heard loads of negative speech about Dell, but not anything specific. Just stuff like "Dell sucks, don't buy it". Personally, I lived with a Dell stationary computer for 4 or 5 years and it worked great for my use.

Basically "illegally downloadable files". I know TPB very well, and I just assumed that AGS Gamerz had linked to the actual download without checking the link ;) That said, there are also a whole lot of legal material there, and plenty of people use torrents instead of other, slower, means of letting people dowload their files so I think it's pretty narrow-minded to shut of torrent sites completely.

But then again, I have no idea if you would remove the link if someone were to mirror their game on a torrent site and link it here. :)

EDIT: But let's not make this a file-sharing discussion. If your friend wants to play ags games on his mac, he needs dual boot or virtual pc with XP sp2 or Vista.

Me too. I just paid $6.55 USD for a pack of cigarettes. New York State taxes each pack over $2.00.

Time to quit.

Hah!
Average price of cigs in norway is around 16-17 USD... o_O

Screw you! I was caught in that loop for a minute or so, brilliantly amazed over the similarities of the last thread!

QuoteAlso, by posting that link you're probably causing troubles by breaking rules here (I think VirtualPC is probably free to download from M$'s own site though, so it's pointless to have that link here), better remove it.

Can't really see the problem of posting a mirror of something already freeware? :)

But yesh, I run Bootcamp on my mac which is a fancy name for dualbooting. As far as I know, it's freely available if one has Mac 10.4 or lower and it comes with "Leopard" if your friend has this. As for needing a copy of Windows, you'll need either XP with service pack 2 or vista. This can be downloaded "illegally" (remember that you'll need XP with sp2 or higher in this case) or you can just find any old windows disc lying around in your house! :) Dunno why, but I had three of them and I s'pose it's something people have after getting a computer.

Must be a Norwegian thing to cause I prefer No.3 to :P.
Of all the edits I prefer Darths 2 sided version!

Naah, I prefer the first one :D Had it been another pic of course! But the general layout of the first looks the best and most professional.
But I agree on Darths edit. That's awesome! :)

Hopefully they'll actually spend money advertising this game. I haven't really noticed the first game until I saw all the fuzz about this teaser. I remember looking at the cover of the first game some years ago and thinking "meh". It was probably a really good game, but since there were absolutely no fuzz about it back then, I hadn't really heard about it and the concept was really weirdly told on the back of the cover so it didn't really appeal to me...

But the setting of this teaser already makes me want to try it out!

I tried the demo and I can't say that I got the best impression. As mentioned, the fighting was rubbish, the humour was meh/okay and without being a gfx whore, the graphics were really repulsive :-\ Had they made the game with the awesome 2D art from the cutscenes, I'd probably be more impressed.

I have to be with garagegothic here... I can't really see much remarkable about any of these pics at all, no matter how awesome it is that we have our robots on another planet..!

Sooo, I find myself in the position of trying to find something interesting to work with! Through the last couple of years, I've had several "normal" jobs such as a theme park employee/doormat, storage-boy and salesman for a fashion store, but although I'm just 18, I'm so goddamned sick of doing work like this without getting any closer to what I really want to work with. I don't have an exact plan laid out, but I know I want to work in something with animation or other graphic work.

Thing is, I don't really know where to start other than with flash animation and stuff like that. I would, in all modesty, say that I have an above average understanding and "skill" with flash and general animation compared to most people I know. I'm on my second year of media studies, so I also have a general understanding of composition, colour theory etc. so I would say that I am more than capable to start some paid work within this.

Creating a portfolio should probably be my first consern, but as I don't have much work experience and seeing as my harddrive died last year without me taking backup, I have very little stuff to show, even from school...

But looking past the "portfolio" part, we get closer to my real question..! How do I actually get work? I've tried google, but most pages devoted to this tells me that I need a US work permit to get work from US-based people... Should I put myself out there? If so, how?

Thanks for any replies! I don't want to be stuck with nothing other than irrelevant work experience on my CV and no portfolio when I actually try to get some work in the future!

F.E.A.R. was pretty "meh" to me.. In DOOM, scary very often equaled having to react fast to avoid death. In fear, there were a general FPS part of the game that was pretty mediocre and quite easy, in my opinion, and there were the scary part that usually were only meant to be "movie-scary" or something like that... Interactive cutscenes almost! Doom tried this as well, but it weren't half as scary as having to constantly switch between flashlight and shotgun to locate the surrounding zombz...

Welcome to the forums!

The sprite... Well... Judging by the ears, I would suppose that it is some kind of red rabbit or something. I would suggest looking at some reference pictures to see how rabbits usually pose and how the actual anatomy of rabbits look and work. I would also try spending some more time on your sprite. Instead of just using three colours and smashing up some shapes in two minutes hoping someone will teach you how to do it, you might want to look at other work that have inspired you earlier and try to see how they use colours and stuff like that...
