Someone pointed me out to this, the AGS Licensing page has been outdated for a while now.

https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/ags/legal/

Large parts of it about used libraries are no longer matching starting with 3.6.0.
However there are also smaller bits that are probably not relevant for decades... like the bit about "default font ripped from Sierra games".

For the reference, this is the copyright page in the manual now:
https://github.com/adventuregamestudio/ags-manual/wiki/Copyright

On a side note, I could not find how exactly do you get to this "legal" page from the main page...

Crimson Wizard

Alright, a user hinted me that the "legal" page is linked from the "AGS FAQ" page:
https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/ags/faq/

And *that* page is outdated like for 2 decades.

Probably no one cared to update it. Should point to the link on the git instead.

Two different audiences, I think.  The one on the site is more community focused, while GitHub's is far more technical.

I'll update the legal links.  The 'community' FAQ will be revised in the new version of the site, and I'll make sure there's also a link to the 'technical' FAQ!

Is there actually any progress on that, BTW? It's been a couple of years without any news, I believe.

I think there are a couple of things that might be high priority enough that they would be worth addressing before the site update, unless it is very close to launch. For example the problem with submitting to the Games Database, where it just kicks you to a blank page if there's something it doesn't like in the way you filled in the form (in particular if you put a YouTube link in the YouTube video field).

I suspect this is a hurdle that keeps a lot of games out of the db, since it seems to trip up nearly everyone who's doing it for the first time—recently @Wesley when trying to submit a demo to be eligible for the AGS Awards before the new year's deadline.

Exponentially more, recently!  I don't want to promise any sort of a release date, but we're so much closer than before.  There will still need to be months of UAT cat-herding even after dev work finishes of course, so don't hold your breath!

I'm aware of the occasional YouTube ID issue, but unless people bring issues directly to my attention it's pretty much impossible for me to fix them.  I don't see any post from Wesley in this forum for instance?

The YouTube one I'm really not inclined to change, since it's 100% user error; the instructions on how to do it correctly are on the page!  Sure there's an argument the site isn't designed well if user error causes a system error, but dev work on the old site is extremely painful, so the less I have to do there, the better.  In order to add a game to the site you have to be registered on the forums, so it's not like they don't have easy access to support if adding their game goes wrong...

I've hacked in even more explanation of what should be in the YouTube field, and set it to repeat this if they submit something in the wrong format.  Very heavy handed, but hopefully this'll reduce the issues medium term.

That's excellent news!

In this case it was discussed on Discord. Thanks for the fix!
