Never seen it, but...The League of Gentlemen's Apocolypse?

Correct! How did you get it?

I believe that second image is in the trailer, or I saw a clip on Film '-SomethingSomething on the BBC back in the day. Could be a mixture of both! A lot of pointless guff sticks in the back of my mind, especially when it comes to films.(nod)

Now for a film I just discovered quite recently, and fell in love with:

Edit: No takers? Okay, how about...now!

For a second I thought that second image was Deep Thought from The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy  But no, I got no clue.
Quote from: CaptainDMy suspicion is that an accident, probably caused by a lightning storm and a mad professor, resulted in Amayirot's brain becoming inextricably linked to the databases behind MobyGames and LemonAmiga.

LimpingFish

Nope. More obscure than that, and quite a bit older.

Third Encounters of a Close Kind?

Kind Encounters of a Closer Third?

LimpingFish

Encounter of the close but no cigar kind!

This film is from the same period as CEotTK, though, and may have been partly influenced by it.

Close encounter of the clue kind!

Gribbler

I think we're getting close. And some of us are even kind.

Mac And Me?

No, that's about a decade later, but good guess.

Next clue!

Well, it seems like I may have killed the thread with this movie!

Still...

Another (a bit more obvious) clue!

LimpingFish

Nope.

Next clue, with (hopefully) recognizable (and IMDB-able) face!

Do not recognise.

The Matrix Reloaded?

LimpingFish

Nope, somewhat older and a lot more obscure.

The face is one of the 20th century's most lauded American film directors, and occasional actor, if that helps. He did not direct this particular film, though.

In other news, I've run out of pictures to post. :-\

Text-based clue!...Space Jesus.

After discounting the ones I would instantly recognise, this led me to try out John Huston. It seemed from other photos that this was indeed him (I didn't recognise him from Chinatown), so I took a look at his acting resume and found... The Visitor! It sounds utterly bizarre, so I'll try to watch it at some point.
