Best movie monster?

I'd nominate the Kothoga, from The Relic.
The movie is pretty decent, and it owes that mostly to the monster - though 80s-90s Penelope Ann Miller is always good to see  :)

I know that overexposure has largely robbed this beast of the "alien-ness" that made it so scary way back when, but I still love this thing.

My older sister took me to see the original movie when I was seven years old (   ) and it scared the absolute hell out of me. I LOVED it! I had the toy and the Heavy Metal graphic novel when I was a kid.

Close second: The Thing. Dad and I saw that in the theater when I was ten ( ) and it instilled in me the unshakable belief that you can never trust anyone for any reason. I sleep in a locked room and eat all my meals from cans to this very day!  :cheesy:

I thought the best movie monster was within us all along?
The ultimate Professional Amateur

Now, with his very own game: Alien Time Zone

In movies such as Home Alone 2, Donald Tru... wait...

Godzilla, maybe?

KyriakosCH

Mmmmh, personally I never saw the allure in Godzilla  :=
Kothoga is supposed to be a beetle-lizard-human chimera.

I'd personally have to go with the werewolf in An American Werewolf in London. Also my nomination for best last scene in a movie.

CGI monsters tend to suck.

Ooh, the best movie monster. Well in that case, I think I'd have to go with the zombies from Night of the Living Dead, simply because they created an entire genre that's still going strong to this day.

But I don't think they'd be my favourite movie monster. I'd have to spend a couple of days thinking about it to choose that.  :-\
I did rather enjoy the blob from the 1980 remake... but is it my favourite though? Hmm...  ???

It's easier to have memorable monsters in animated shows.
Gargoyle imo was one of the best:

Then again, Inhumanoids was an awesome show.

Another candidate for me would be The Thing from the Carpenter film.

That was a good one too! That bit where the guy gets eaten in the doctor's office? Amazing special effects work in a pre-CGI time.

Surely there's only one answer to this question.

Okay, maybe two.

Nice!

How about the vampire queen in LifeForce?

This remind me a '80 cartoon show with "mutant plant cars", but I don't remember the title!  :P

The Spiral Zone? (another great show, btw)

Inhumanoids seems like something I may have heard of, but no real memories of. Spiral Zone, on the other hand, just jarred loose a memory in my mind that I didn't even know I had! Combat unicycles! God, I miss the 80s. Cocaine was in the water supply back then! And what about Turbo Teen? Talk about body horror!  :cheesy:
