Just So You Know

Only the Japanese system adheres
to counts of syllabics in words.
It is a precise image and idea in simple form
which defines the Haiku.

In the Chinese style I might say:

The sky was once empty but for sparse birds.
Your black text on this blue field.
The air now trembles with the beat of wings.
