* Yes and No.

Anyone feel ready to propose a solution?

dayowlron

Was the murderer her husband that was inside flying a remote control killer bee with a powerful poison in it?
Pro is the opposite of Con                       Kids of today are so much different
This fact can clearly be seen,                  Don't you know?
If progress means to move forward         Just ask them where they are from
Then what does congress mean?             And they tell you where you can go.  --Nipsey Russell

Snarky

Ya, pretty much. I was thinking a swarm of micro-drones, and part of the plot was to rely on the drones being mistaken for bees or wasps by any witnesses. Well done!

dayowlron

WOW! just putting all the answers together. Didn't expect it to be "the answer".
Well if anyone has a case jump in.

Stupot

Nice puzzle. Do we have any backstory? What did Mrs Atkinson do to deserve that?

Mandle

Wow! I was right about the drone(s)?! 8-)

What did Mrs Atkinson do to deserve that?

She married Rowan ;)

Should have known he had a cunning plan...

A bit of a different concept this round:

The goal is to name the man in a limerick with certain words left out.

You cannot ask YES/NO questions about the case this time. You can only either try to guess words that fit in any of the numbered slots, or attempt to name the man and solve the case.

An experimental format so I'm not sure if it will be way too easy or impossibly difficult. If the former then my apologizes. If the latter then I will try to provide hints without too many spoilers hopefully.

Along the way, if a guess at a word is close to the solution in some way I may mention so, but possibly some time after the fact.

Interested to see how this goes:

CASE #50: NAME THE MAN

There once was a man in SLOT #1,
Obsessed with a SLOT #2 he can't SLOT #3,
First his SLOT #4, then his SLOT #5,
And then even his SLOT #6,
Could not equal his SLOT #7.

YES
SLOT #1:
SLOT #2:
SLOT #3:
SLOT #4:
SLOT #5:
SLOT #6:
SLOT #7:

NO
SLOT #1:
SLOT #2:
SLOT #3:
SLOT #4:
SLOT #5:
SLOT #6:
SLOT #7:

Snarky

Intriguing!

Two questions about the format:

-Is this still a crime riddle (or riddle about some other suspicious/macabre event)?
-Is it a proper limerick that rhymes, scans, and has a place name in Slot #1?

Depending on the answers, the following guesses may be completely irrelevant:

Slot #2:
-wife?
-crime?

Slot #3:
-kill?
-solve?

Stupot

#1854
SLOT #1: Agger
SLOT #2: girl
SLOT #3: shag 'er
SLOT #4: dad
SLOT #5: mother
SLOT #6: brother
SLOT #7: dagger

Quote from: Snarky-Is it a proper limerick that rhymes, scans...
I had trouble making it scan at first but I did a mental flip and realised how to read it to make it work.

@Mandle As we have to name the man, does that mean it's based on a real case (or a well-known fictional case) and we have to work out which one?

-crime? (No, but...not really...but...)

Slot #3:

-solve? (Quite close...)

SLOT #1: Agger (No, but it is a place name)
SLOT #2: girl
SLOT #3: shag 'er
SLOT #4: dad
SLOT #5: mother (No, but close in a way)
SLOT #6: brother
SLOT #7: dagger

Mandle

Yes, the limerick should scan properly. Well, at least within my poetic limits. (laugh)

As for other questions about the genre of the case etc.

I won't answer them just yet as I think they may prove self-evident as more of the limerick comes into focus.

Snarky

Slot 1:
-Iraq?

Slot 2:
-case?

Slot 3:
-crack?

Stupot

I tried to make it work with the plot of the Taken trilogy but it fails.
SLOT #1: The Hills (Hollywood?/Beverley?)
SLOT #2: kidnapper
SLOT #3: kill
SLOT #4: daughter
SLOT #5: ex-wife
SLOT #6: own life
SLOT #7: particular set of skills

HanaIndiana

Oooh, I'm liking Snarky's post... here are some other guesses:

#4 - house
#5 - spouse
#6 - mouse (yeah yeah, I know)
