Oh, oops... somehow I missed reading the not in your sentence... :-[ And me thinking that I only forgot the "not" when typing... (roll)

No worries.

The Lurker gestures to The Betrayer who throws off his costume to reveal that he is indeed The Vampire Lestat.

Lestat moves down to where your bound friend still sits struggling in their chair beneath the flickering movie screen and rips off the hood to reveal:

RIAISE

The Lurker says "The hour has grown later, actually, rather earlier than you might have thought, dear Lestat, so here is some of that "Long lost blue" that your pal Louis lamented over:

He pulls another grinding lever and a hatch off to the east side wall of the cinema opens, allowing in the first rays of dawn to shine upon Lestat.

Lestat's skin starts to smoke and turn black and he snarls and dashes off behind the drawn-back curtains and into the wings of the theater.

YES! Your friend, mentioned above in the hidden section, swapped places with and controlled The Betrayer during this challenge. Confusing to most, but not to hardied adventure game players who are used to swapping characters all the time!

As they did a dedicated job as The Betrayer they are spared from death and as Kumpel was the only one to guess The Betrayer's identity he is also spared.

The-Betrayer-no-more has also now returned to the game as a regular player, just bound to their seat in front of the screen instead of to an audience seat like everyone else.

Now... Who dies?

The Lurker seems to fumble with something. It looks, from your limited field of vision, bizarrely like he might be trying to solve a Rubik's Cube, and then:

Chains rip out from the darkness and embed the hooks at their ends into the flesh of their chosen victim:

Spoiler

Stupot utters his last words before being ripped apart:

CASE #51: MIDNIGHT HORROR MOVIE SCREENING.

It seems this screening was a triple-feature, at least.

The dawn of October 31st has come and you are still all locked into your seats.

Cassiebsg's remains still waft puffs of smoke now and then up through the flickering projector light.

The body parts of Stupot bound to his seat remain in place but the rest of him is splattered over the the entire movie theater in general and the survivors in particular.

The Lurker cackles and says "Time to find out who the one who lives through my little game is, and who those who do not are!"

Challenge #3: Culling The Herd

The Lurker speaks out a list of common horror movie tropes:

(1) There is a POV shot through the killer's mask in this horror movie.
(2) A character cuts off one of their own body parts in this horror movie.
(3) There is an inbred family in this horror movie.
(4) Cannibalism is the main theme of this horror movie.
(5) A character transforms into an animal in this horror movie.
(6) The characters fight subterranean monsters in this horror movie.
(7) This horror movie deals with the theme of religion vs. an evil force.
(8) This horror movie parodies the horror movie genre.
(9) The characters in this horror movie are racing against a time limit to defeat their foe.
(10) This horror movie is about a haunted house.
(11) The characters in this horror movie are unaware at first that they are pawns in a larger game.
(12) This horror movie takes place mostly in one room.
(13) This is one of the most famous slasher horror movies of all time.

Players may now submit their lists of answers to each question.

As each question is pretty ambiguous and could relate to many horror movies players may fairly guess answers that a player before them has already guessed.

The player that gets the most answers correct before the next update (hopefully before Halloween in over) is the lone survivor and wins the game.

Now, on with this  MIDNIGHT HORROR MOVIE SCREENING

DEAD PLAYERS
Cassiebsg: Electrocuted
Stupot: Ripped Apart

Wow, so many multiple posts from me.

Sorry!

Just wanted to say that I posted the last post at exactly midnight October 30th my time. Totally by coincidence!

Officially Halloween now my time!

I've decided that 4 surviving players have achieved main-character status at this point because of their continued interest in the game:

Tabata
Riaise
Kumpel
Snarky

These 4 players will all get a +1 score on their final answer tally.

New players are also more than welcome to participate but I must give a slight advantage to our main-characters I feel.

Dead players: I'm sorry but a Halloween game demanded some glorious death scenes. I hope you enjoyed yours...

Tabata

Have a happy, horrifying night everyone!

Boah - this has become hard work - just to stay alive in here for some minutes more  (laugh)

THE LURKER SAYS:

The correct answers were:

Spoiler

(1) Halloween. (The original slasher film and namesake to this day must be first of course!)
(2) Evil Dead 2. (WHO'S LAUGHING NOW?!?!)
(3) Texas Chainsaw Massacre. (Such lovable inbred loonies!)
(4) Cannibal Holocaust. (Only Snarky guessed this one so maybe he has also seen one of the most disturbing horror films of all time. The producers actually hid the actors away after the release to make it seem more real but then went to trial for murder when the film was released as it seemed like the cast had been killed until they managed to track down the actually alive actors that they had paid to stay hidden. Magnificent! The animal killings are hard to stomach but at least it seems that every animal killed was eaten by the cast and native tribe filmed in the movie.)
(5) An American Werewolf In London. (Hahaha... got you all... Nobody thought it could be the actual first movie...)
(6) Tremors. (Well done to Kumpel for being the only one to guess this movie. It's a monster movie classic!)
(7) The Exorcist. (The scariest movie of all time for me. Tied with number 9 below.)
(8) Scream. (Wes Craven gave us some of the best horror movies of all time and then decided to deconstuct what he (and others) had made and gave us Scream: The perfect balance between real and parody slasher fare. Anybody can watch it on any level and still have fun.)
(9) Ring. (I watched the original version at an old Japanese inn in the mountains on a dark and windy night. Never been so scared. I had to wait for my wife to get back from the inn's hot spring before I could even take a bath in the room myself.)
(10) Poltergeist. (Best haunted house movie EVER!)
(11) Cabin In The Woods. (Nothing really to say. If you haven't seen it: SEE IT!)
(12) Saw. (The series gained a bad reputation for torture-porn, but the original movie it actually very clever.)
(13) Friday The 13th. (Yes, the quiz number was a hint. The first slasher movie to do over-the-top gore and still pull off a decent plot and twist. The online game is also awesome!)
[close]

So the final scores are:

Spoiler

Tabata: 4
Snarky: 10 (Dude, it felt like you were reading my mind when I read your list...)
Last To Know: 2
Riaise: 4
Kumpel: 6 (Well done!)
[close]

The Lurker takes care of the losers first:

Riaise's fate:

Spoiler

The Lurker stabs Riaise in the face with multiple scalpels:

[IMGZOOM]http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-syAO2z581TY/U175RGL0TgI/AAAAAAAAN7c/4h3nqbEGBO4/s1600/stab.gif[/IMGZOOM]
[close]

Kumpel's fate:

Spoiler

The Lurker presses his thumbs into Kumpel's eyes until they pop:

[close]

Tabata's fate:

Spoiler

The Lurker controls Tabata's mind to pull her own head off:

[close]

The Last To Know's fate:

Spoiler

The Lurker then concentrates his mind powers on The Last To Know until finally:

[IMGZOOM]https://i.imgur.com/MmBKV8X.gif[/IMGZOOM]
[close]

Now The Lurker looks at Snarky and says "GO!!!" as the armlocks on his chair disengage.

Snarky's fate:

Spoiler

Snarky runs for the exit as The Lurker sets off explosives hidden here and there within the cinema to make the hero's escape more dramatic and The Lurker's fate more veiled in mystery.

Snarky exits the theater to find police surrounding it and has this to say:

[IMGZOOM]https://i.giphy.com/media/ljhhjnlhYdKq4/200.gif[/IMGZOOM]

Snarky is the final survivor of this  MIDNIGHT HORROR MOVIE SCREENING

The police were not able to identify the remains of enough bodies to determine if The Lurker had escaped or not...

Congratulations Snarky. Your mind reading skills are mind blowing.

Happy Halloween everybody!

Whatcha going to/did you watch tonight? We are starting Insidious 3 in a few minutes.

Snarky

#2013
Thanks for a wild ride, Mandle! I'm not sure I deserved the win, but maybe having only a passing knowledge of the horror genre was to my advantage at the end, since it kept me from overthinking the clues. Cannibal Holocaust was just because I had a hard time thinking of movies about cannibalism, so I simply went off the title. OTOH I actually had An American Werewolf in London for clue 5 at first, but yeah, I figured it wasn't likely to be something from an earlier round. Nice fakeout!

I think I watched Ringu at a small college "cinema" (probably just a DVD showed on a projector) back in 2001 or so, and it made a big impression on me. I always liked the original better than the remake.

Happy Halloween, everybody!

Might watch It Follows or I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House tonight, if I can get access to a TV.

Tabata

Ha, ha, ha - running around headlessly is a kinda strange feeling - but at least my toothache is gone. (laugh)

 Congratulations to our clever survivor Snarky!

... and big thanks for our terrifying jigsaw host - you did a really cool job! (nod)

Mandle

Cheers, guys!

It was awesome to GM this round and a great learning experience in what can be fun in a game as well as what maybe is not so much fun at times.

Oh, and I watched "Interview With The Vampire" as my Halloween movie. Only for about the 20th time but I see something new each time still.

Snarky, did you watch "It Follows"? I thought that was a great horror movie even with all its flaws.

Stupot

I didn't watch any horror last night but I'm going to see Get Out at the cinema this evening.

I loved It Follows. Genuinely creepy.

Just finished watching it. I'm blown away.

HAPPY (belated) HALLOWEEN!

Well done, Snarky, the last survivor! This has been fun, maybe we can have another round like this sometime, but with a different theme. Adventure games, perhaps?
