This is the original demo version of "Simon the Sorcerer 1", converted into a text adventure, based on my Text Adventure (Zork-style) template.I wanted to test the logic of my template and looked for a short game to reproduce in it. Since I grew on Simon the Sorcerer and very familiar with its puzzles, I decided to take it as a reference and I'm very pleased with the result.
To give this text adventure more color, I decided to actually make the characters quotes in color, just like in the graphical game, which makes a huge difference compared to a traditional text adventure gameplay. There's also the original demo music in the background and an option to Save and Restore the game.
AGS Panel Review
"The Panel does not rate demos."

The issue you reported about with the 'Status' not being updated is now fixed.
As for the verbs - I agree. Though, since most players who would play this version are probably familiar with the graphical 'Simon the Sorcerer' UI, I used the same verbs to prevent any confusion, with the exception of breaking the 'consume' verb into 'eat and 'drink', though 'drink' is not required in the demo; the exact verbs are also mentioned right when the game starts.
While limited to a few verbs and abbreviations, there are enough that playing the demo works smoothly. I would expect an "examine" verb in a text adventure, though. I cannot remember playing the original demo, but I guess the puzzles and design are identical.
If you really want to make a text adventure, I guess Inform would be easier than AGS. Still cool to see it here.
