The AGS Panel is a team of AGS forum veterans who play all of the games here, and give them ratings from one to five cups. The rating system is as follows:
1 Cup Not serious entertainment
2 Cups A reasonable game, worth a try
3 Cups A good game, worth playing
4 Cups A great game, well worth your time
5 Cups An outstanding, must-play game!
Feel free to disagree with the panel's rating, and please don't be offended if you think your game has been underrated!

(Why has my game been rated 1 cup?)

Close window
If your game has been rated 1 cup, please don't be offended! It's common for your first game release to get a 1-cup rating, due to the game having a lack of polish and flair -- which is understandable, because you're just getting started!

Please understand that the main purpose of the ratings is to help potential game players find high quality, bug-free games to play. You've probably learnt a lot about AGS as a result of making your first game -- so why not use that knowledge to start afresh, and do even better with your next game!

It's a brilliant game, with good storyline, and interesting characters, but to me is seemed that the vast majority of the puzzles revolved around pixel hunts, which are frustrating to say the least.

I liked the game, but after you rescue your friend Ben and he comes with you there are bugs that make navigation through the map very difficult.

Way better than the first one. The storyline was very original and the puzzles were challenging.

Frank the Farmhand 2 is an excellent sequel to a very good game. While the enjoyable first part occasionally felt self-concious (although it contains one of my favourite ever exchanges in an AGs game, between Frank and a depressed Klan member), Frank 2 feels like a game made by a confident author.

The tone is similar to the first game but the setting is completely different. Frank 2 takes place on a beautiful island which is a pleasure to look at while you play. All the main characters from the first game return, including the put-upon sidekick Ben, who goes through more personal ordeals for the greater good, and the Professor, who acts as the gentle voice of reason. There's some new characters too, including an excellent crazy hermit who believes he is a castaway despite the island clearly being populated. He's sure to become a much loved AGs character.

The only odd thing about Frank the Farmhand 2 is its title. It's no longer clear that Frank was ever a farmhand and the references to his old work and the resulting lack of knowledge about the wider world have totally vanished. Still, this is hardly a significant complaint.

Frank the Farmhand 2 is everything a sequel should be. It retains the feel of the first game while building on it to make a more confident, accomplished experience. Like the first game, it ends with a promising set up for the next sequel and I look forward to playing it enormously.
