The AGS Panel is a team of AGS forum veterans who play all of the games here, and give them ratings from one to five cups. The rating system is as follows:
1 Cup Not serious entertainment
2 Cups A reasonable game, worth a try
3 Cups A good game, worth playing
4 Cups A great game, well worth your time
5 Cups An outstanding, must-play game!
Feel free to disagree with the panel's rating, and please don't be offended if you think your game has been underrated!

(Why has my game been rated 1 cup?)

Close window
If your game has been rated 1 cup, please don't be offended! It's common for your first game release to get a 1-cup rating, due to the game having a lack of polish and flair -- which is understandable, because you're just getting started!

Please understand that the main purpose of the ratings is to help potential game players find high quality, bug-free games to play. You've probably learnt a lot about AGS as a result of making your first game -- so why not use that knowledge to start afresh, and do even better with your next game!

About this game

This is Bear Story, a kind of take on the old Dizzy adventures all those years ago. (You DO remember Dizzy, don't you?!?)

Help Bear get to the annual Bear Airways shareholder's conference in time!

Features... features... erm: -It's a dizzy-style game, in AGS! -8 playable rooms -5 characters

AGS Panel Review

"A cute game that shows a platform adventure can be made with AGS. Unfortunately the jumping is more complicated than it should be due to the rolling effect, but this is a minor complaint."

2 people commented on this game (newest first):

Classic... very, very cool! Some of the jumps are a little difficult to make for instance in the cellar to the shelf and one of the branch-to-branches... otherwise very fun.

During the 1980s I developed a passionate hatred for clouds. This was just beginning to fade when I decided to download Bear Story, and suddenly it all came flooding back.

Bear Story marks the debut of a superb new talent, Iceman. This game is a tribute to the legendary Dizzy games and it recreates the feel of those games wonderfully, from the way the main character jumps to the difficult and frustrating cloud sequence.

Many will consider the cuteness of Bear Story and its simple story to be a downside but it is nothing of the sort. The game was made for its author's little brother which accounts for the child friendly style but Bear Story is a game that players of any age can enjoy. It helps if you have nostalgic rememberings of the Dizzy games but even if you've never heard of Dizzy you'll still enjoy this treat. It's a bright, attractive and endearing game that should provide you with a good hour and a half's gameplay.

With the charming debut Bear Story and the unbelievable Da New Guys already under his belt, Iceman is definitely a hugely talented AGs author to watch
