=Summary=
107 games submitted to the AGS Games Database in 2020 competed in the awards. For the first time in years, the nominations were not dominated by commercial games, with ''Zniw Adventure'' the only commercial AGS title nominated, ultimately winning in three categories. However, the big winner of the night was [[Postmodern Adventures]], whose two games ''Urban Witch Story'' and ''Billy Masters Was Right'' took nine awards total. This meant that despite 11 nominations, ''Off The Clock'' was shut out, winning no awards. Best MAGS Game of the Year ([[MAGS#The_MAGGIES|MAGGIES]] 2020), a separate contest but announced together with the AGS Awards, was won by ''The Cabin''.
 
[[Kastchey]] took over the responsibility for the awards from [[cat]], with support from cat, [[Snarky]] and [[AGA]]; [[selmiak]] and [[vga256]] also helped update the AGS Awards client. The results were announced in a virtual in-game/IRC ceremony on 17. April, 2021, using the multiplayer AGS Awards client. This year's awards marked two anniversaries, as they were the twentieth AGS Awards, and the ten-year anniversary of the first multiplayer client. The ceremony also featured a memorial for Shane "[[ProgZmax]]" Stevens, who passed away in 2020, with a eulogy by [[LimpingFish]].
