AdventureX is a small gaming exposition held in the UK on an annual basis since 2011. Members of the AGS community are invited to speak and showcase their adventure games. Special guests give talks about their work. Upcoming games are available to play. AdventureX is usually held around the Christmas season or some time in Q4 and is a 2 day event open to the public.

History

In 2003 m0ds discussed forming an adventure game expo with Adventure Gamers founder Marek at ECTS gaming expo at Earls Court, London. Several attempts were made to hold an event but did not progress, until 2011. Despite numerous locations hosting the event, its popularity has grown over the years, with visitor numbers increasing year on year. In 2016 the event was rebranded as "the narrative games convention".

2011

In 2011 AdventureX was held at Didcot Labour Club in Didcot, Oxfordshire (UK) on December 16th and 17th.

Special guests were Chris Bateman (Discworld Noir), Neil Rennison (Tin Man Games), Chris Jones (AGS), Alasdair Beckett (Nelly Cootalot: Spoonbeaks Ahoy!)

Featured game presentations: Infamous Adventures (Space Quest 2 Remake), Tomasz Kaczmarek (Sens3s)

This year the event was ticketed, costing about £15 to attend for both days.

It was the only AdventureX held at Didcot Labour Club, which closed soon after for demolition. The event moved to central London.

Organized by m0ds.

2012

In 2012 the show was held at University of East Anglia in central London on 15th + 16th December.

Special guests were Jon Ingold, Stephen Marley, Dave Gilbert and Alex Warren.

A selection of exhibitors and people demonstrating games, including several members of the AGS community including CaptainD, Andail, Steffano and Technocrat.

This year the event was free to attend, however it was funded through an IndieGoGo campaign.

Organized by m0ds, AGA and Azure.

2013

The show returned on 7th and 8th December again at UEAL in central London.

With special guests Charles Cecil, Steve Ince, Tim Child and Mark Estdale.

Ali provided a "Choose Your Own Adventure" interactive segment, there was an Adventure Game Room 101 feature and a Live stream.

This year the event was free to attend, however guests were encouraged to buy a VIP Key Card to help fund the event. There was also a charity contribution of £75.

It was the 2nd but last event at UEAL as the University moved to a new premesis in 2014.

Organized by m0ds, AGA and Azure.

2014

AdventureX returned for a 4th year at a new venue, Keyworth Centre, South Bank University - still in central London.

Roughly 155 people attended over the weekend. Entrance was free. £130 was raised for charity. The AGS game "Shardlight" was revealed.
