The problem with all these redirects from User: pages to articles, is that it makes it much harder for people to put messages in a user's user talk page, like this one. I think all these redirected pages should have a template in them that points to the user talk page, or better the redirect should go the OTHER way... --SSH 13:32, 21 November 2006 (CET)

It seemed like it was the most common method of user page setup. I was just trying to make everything consistent. Perhaps this deserves some discussion (probably elsewhere) where the people in charge can put in their opinions and make a decision on this? Monkey 05 06 17:30, 21 November 2006 (CET)

This seems like it'd probably be a good place for this discussion. Since most users already have the NAME page instead of the User:NAME page, I've tried (on a few occasions) to update all user pages to reflect this (by redirecting User:NAME pages to NAME pages where possible). SSH's concerns about the User talk:NAME pages led me to start redirected those pages to the Talk:NAME pages (today...more than 5 months later). In any case, I'm trying to set some type of standard. Perhaps new user pages could be set up with NAME pages and the User:NAME and User talk:NAME pages redirecting (as I've been working to do)? Unless someone has a different idea. But I'm already setting up the current user pages in this manner....Monkey 05 06 00:50, 1 May 2007 (CEST)

well, this makes it hard for people to check whether their 'user talk:' has been changed, since its link in the top right corner won't be bold anymore. in contrast to (probably) popular opinion i'd keep 'user:' and 'username' pages separate. i certainly don't like people to mess with my User:Hajo page since it's for introducing myself, but i don't mind people editing Hajo. keeping those pages separate seems to be natural to me, one is 'your own' page, with which i can do whatever i want. the other is(well, could/should be) an article about you, written npov and is not owned by anyone. :) Hajo 02:43, 5 May 2007 (CEST)

I agreed with Hajo, IMO the User: page is like a user profile, while the other is a wiki article, so the User: page is more "personal" stuff. That's why I protected my own User:Gilbert page from editting, while the Gilbert article page was free for editing. In fact these two pages did have different contents (nothing serious though)so I was actually not very happy when the article page was deleted (there wasn't much content though, so let it go) Gilbot 04:23, 8 May 2007 (CEST)

Maybe we should throw in categories by country? E.g. "AGS people from Italy" etc. Radiant 23:56, 7 December 2005 (CET)

Gord10: It would be good if a new side-category would be opened. I mean;

  • AGS People listed by names
  • AGS People listed by countries

gord, you can sign your entries autmatically by typing --~~~~.

taken from the registration quiz: "7. You wonder if anyone else from your country reads the forums. What should you do?" - "Nothing at all. The internet is a multi-cultural place, there are forum members from all over Europe, the Americas, Australia, Asia and the rest of the world, and more than likely there is someone from your country. Besides, why does it matter?" --Hajo 19:34, 14 December 2005 (GMT)

You are right ._. (by the way, guess it will take rather long to me to learn Wiki well...) --Gord10 19:38, 14 December 2005 (GMT)
