AGS doesn't utilise an installer like most Windows applications, all you need to do is unpack it and you're ready to go. A step-by-step guide follows:

  • Download AGS (the latest stable release is always available from the AGS site, and beta releases can be found at the top of the technical forums)
  • Unzip the .zip file you downloaded (WinZip is probably the most popular zip program for Windows) to whichever folder you want
  • Run agsedit.exe
  • Make your game!

N.B. Betas don't usually come with all the files necessary to run AGS, just the changed ones. Therefore, you should install the last stable release before you install a beta.
