King Simulator 2013 is a community role-playing game administered by WHAM on the AGS forums. The following is a glossary of people, places and things to help us all keep track of who's who and what's what.

WHAM started the game on November the 6th 2013. You can read it all in the Thread on the AGS Forums

Recap

Day One
  • Met with the town's guild leaders.
  • Hired Sir Lancelot and his 20 men for 5 gold coins per year. With the king's command Sir Lancelot ordered 5 of his men to scout the lands East, the remaining 10 to guard the towns, and 5 to guard the castle.
  • A shadowy visitor appeared before the king warning of untold dangers, a threat from all 4 directions, and that on the third day a object will be passed unto us to protect the kingdom from these threats.
  • A cow of high value was bestowed upon us as a sign of goodwill on behalf of the peasants of the village.
Day Two
  • Met with Jib Ali-Gharzab who had a few wares to sell. The king was interested in the grass seed but couldn't be coerced enough to spend that much coin. Had him meet with Mandarb, head of the craftsmens' guild, so the two can discuss business.
  • A petty thief broke into the trader's guild hall and stole the gilded seal, without we can't make new trade routes or contracts, a new one was ordered to be crafted.
  • Had a meeting with the guild masters to learn of ways to make more money for the kingdom. Post #228
  • Met with Sir Axemont, and in trying to test his capabilities by having him and his men prove themselves worthy of hire, we inadvertently insulted them and possibly turned them enemy.
  • We ordered Sir Lancelot to start training the townsfolk to be the new city guard.
Day Three
  • Met with Rorik who traveled far from the frozen northlands losing all his companions but left little explanation on the matter nor on the mission he was on.
  • Met with Baron, the strongest of the six pirate clans, who bestowed us with a ornamental golden telescope as a gift of friendship. We kindly invited him to dinner that night.
  • Met with Robina, and hired her and her 30 experienced rangers for 3 gold coins per year, yet some of her men seemed a little less fit for the role. We ordered her and her men to search the surrounding areas, a day in each direction.
  • Met with Hirschel the wizened herbalist who offered his services for shelter and food. We ordered Construed to build a fence for the livestock.
  • With your guards at alert, we met with a magical being with bearlike features and the ability to freeze time. We accepted the magical object and he quickly vanished leaving our guards in weakened health. We ordered the Jester to safely store the magical object in the treasury, under lock and key and fully guarded.
  • Summoned Hirschel and Jester to speak about possible gold mining locations, and learned about the existing mine owned by Jonathon of Anders and operated by Mook.

King

Name Picture Description
King of Grimdark King of Grimdark The player character -us! Apparently he is the twin brother to the late evil king, whom he overthrew in a revolution. He likes to party hard until the treasury is depleted, so needs careful watching when he gets drunk or gets his purse out. He is single, and doesn't appear to have an actual name.

Crown Servants

Name Picture Description
Jester Jester Our royal chief minister, grand vizier, chief advisor and most trusted companion. He's also pretty weird and has a kind of shifty/sinister look to him. But, heh! We're a trusting sort of monarch, so it's all good (for now....).
Sir Lancelot Sir Lancelot A "straight and true" knight who serves us loyally, with his 20 men, for the price of 5 gold coins per year. He will serve us so long as our rule is just and fair. Each of his knights can best any lowlier knight in single combat with ease.

We've had him build fences in the royal garden for Hirschel's herbs. Post #391

Dennis, of the Frostsea Family Dennis of the Trader's Guild Head of the trader's guild, although they do not appear to be currently trading with anyone, nor do they apparently have any recollection of where places are or what we used to trade with them....

Introduced on Post #29 Currently the trade tax is set LOW. #208

Mandarb Mandarb of the Guild of Graftsmen Head of the craftsmen guild. Contact him if you ever need something specific or special produced.

Other People

Name Picture Description
Shadowy Traveler Shadowy Traveller & Perveyor of Prophesy A mysterious figure who has prophesized that bad times are a-comin'. Specifically: "Before long your kingdom will be beset by dangers untold, and it will be your task to ensure your people are ready." These dangers will come from every direction (east, west, above, below), but remain as yet unnamed. HOWEVER, on the fourth day of our rule an object will come into our possession "which will grant you the assistance of myself and others like me. Be wise and use it well, unlike the one who reigned over this land before you, for wasting such power might see your reign come to end sooner than you think."

(WHAM, POST #84)

Jib Ali-Gharzab of the Guaravana Family Merchant of the South A merchant from the south who offers ever-changing wares for sale, and is open to buying stuff from us. His expertise is negotiating the "shifting roads....past the sand-pits, deadly snakes and vicious scoprions as well as the wily naga-people who so love to ambush travellers" between the midlands (presumably Grimdark) and the southlands, of which the Emirate of Turbanistan is the pre-eminent polity.

Introduced on Post #156

Sir Kevin of Axemont Inexperienced Knight An inexperienced knight who offers his services, and those of his 15 inexperienced and young knights. Post #241

Our last encounter with Kevin he called us a usurper and threatened that we better hope to not meet again. Post #270

Rorik, son of Rorik Rorik A warrior from the frozen lands in the north on a mission who seeks shelter in our castle. Post #301

We grant his wish and in return he tells us about his country. Post #318

Baron of the Forkbeaks Baron of the Forkbeaks A representative of THE FORKBEAKS, the largest and the strongest of the six pirate clans, which control the seas to the WEST.

Wants to form a friendship between our peoples, so that we might trade valuables and necessities in a peaceful manner. He also offers secure safe passage to the high seas, for the pirate clans mercilessly capture and ransom any who dare enter the waters without their permission. He gave us the gift of a Ornamental Telescope. Post #322

We invited him to dinner for further negotiations. Yumme!

Razathul Razathul Sent by the "others" to deliver a black spherical gift. Post #404

After delaying him with questions we learned that Razathul, and likely the rest of the "others" as well, seem to have the ability to stop time along with some nasty side effects. It also seems that guards are useless against powerful beings such as these as they seem to stop time the moment they allow themselves to be seen. His sole purpose seemed to have been just to deliver the gift and he vanished the moment we accepted. Post #442

Nobleman Jonas Nobleman A noble man travelling with the caravan requesting an escort on his way to the coast to the west. Post #500

After Lancelot persuades him to come to an audience, we agree to escort him, but tell Lancelot to keep an eye on him.Post #529

Places

Name Map Description
Grimdark Map of Grimdark Our Kingdom. Apparently we forget what's out there, but it is "a nation of a few thousand people, which consists of the castle, surrounding town and some smaller villages and farmsteads outside of the town walls. There are no minor lords or provinces under the king (yet)"

(WHAM, POST #146)

Turbanistan [[Image:|Map of Turbanistan]] "Kingdom of immeasurable wealth and glory. Enchanted sandstone walls adorned with gold and gemstone protect the grand walled nation of the Grand Emir’s Turbanistan. The people there are dark of skin and hair, and strong, hardy and wise as anyone can claim. Their lands are known for precious traded goods and especially the creations of the Grand Emir’s Guild of Alchemists, who provide the Emir and his armies anything from healing poultices to poisons to coat arrows to potions...."

(WHAM, POST #156)

Northlands [[Image:|Map of Northlands]] "My people are known by outsiders as 'the men of winter' and we live most of our lives in solitude, hunting the frozen wastes for beast and fish. The tribes often go to battle with one another, be it for cattle, prestige or rights to marry another's daughter, and so those who survive these battles and the cold are all hardy warriors. No other race of men exists in this world who can do battle in the cold winter as well as we do."

(WHAM, POST #318)

Things

Name Picture Description
Key The Key in the Jester's Hand Perhaps a magic key, currently in the possession of the Jester. Apparently it used to unlock a dungeon with a princess in it, and now unlocks a chest with a potion that would keep her "refreshed", but the chest has been lost so.... what's the key for, again? Post #16
Ornamental Telescope The Ornamental Telescope in the Jester's Hand A telescope obtained from Baron of the forkbeaks as a token of kindness and friendship. It is not a functional instrument but encrusted with four valuable gemstones. Post #322
Magical Object The magical object gifted to us from Razathul and the 'Others' A magical object gifted to us from Razathul and the 'Others'. Post #404

To activate this object simply stare into it when the "end is near" or "when the time is dire and your kingdom is truly in peril". Every ruler who has ruled this land has been given a gift such as this; it was said that each that used the gift wished they hadn't, and each who didn't wished they had. The previous king we usurped had not used the gift given to him.

We had Jester take it to the treasury to have it put under lock and key and always guarded, just to be safe. Post #445

Livestock

Name Picture Description
Annabelle Annabelle the Cow The highest-prize cow of a peasant village, gift of goodwill from some DIRTY PEASANTS. Annabelle currently resides in the unkempt castle garden.
