A Verb coin is a graphical user interface used in point-and-click [[adventure games]]. It was used in the game [[The Curse of Monkey Island]]. To use the interface, the mouse cursor is positioned over an object that you may interact with and hold down the mouse button. Then icons pop up next to the object with various graphics representing the actions that may be performed on that object. An example would be clicking on a telephone which reveals the following icons: a mouth (representing the verb "to talk"), an eyeball (representing the verb "to examine") and a hand (representing the verb "to use").
