Lucile - she is just too damn cool
Rose - the cheeky subversiveness of this entry wins me over
Jeremy - very nice date look and an excellent nod to the theme

Interesting. I like the look. Thanks for sharing.

My self-summary: Hi I'm Lovebird-3182-XZ and I'm here to find my one true love! (Or more! With a total limit of 8192 true loves! But it's negotiable)
What I’m doing with my life: What am I not doing with my life? I'm currently running 372 active processes. But my main focus is finding someone special to love who will love me back.
I’m really good at: A lot of things! But my strongest suits are computation and love. ❤
The first things people usually notice about me: Probably the fact that our chances to fall in love with each other are over 46.82% which is way, way above average!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food: Everything by Donald Knuth. Halt and Catch Fire. Glitchcore is my jam. I have more (375738375 entries in total), you should ask me on our date!
Six things I could never do without: determinism, Turing-completeness, floating-point operations, a good GPU, videogames, love.
On a typical Friday night I am: on.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit: my root password is encrypted using only 8192 bits RSA. I'm kinda trusting and eager to believe in good in people. :-[
You should message me if: You want to love and be loved!

Note: while the sprite is AGS-ready, it requires AGS 4.0 to use. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Don't mind me just something I need to pass on to her: link

I'd also very much like The First Templar please.

I'd also like Venetica - Gold Edition if I may.

Very generous of you. Merry festive season to you too.
I'd be grateful for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat.

Thank you for sticking around. I don't think this community would be the same without you. <3

Fantastic entries, everyone.

General Discussion / Re: The linux migration checklist

I've switched to only using Linux, couldn't be happier about it, hadn't been enjoying using my computer like that before that for a long time. Certainly can recommend that path to others.

I don't like issues brought on by video playback either but all engine ports must have the exact same capabilities.

Also what do you mean by non-existent options available under Linux? How is any of this specific to Linux? You can't play many formats without installing codecs on Windows and you can install them on Linux as well (again, gstreamer plugins for example). How exactly is that in any way limited? Or why would it be any less problematic to play patented formats on Windows? You can make the engine optionally dependable on any set of packages providing the desired functionality, which kills all birds with one stone, getting rid of the licensing/patent issues responsibility from the developer in particular.

Also is it possible to implement your suggestion for an existing game? I converted a video file to theora and replaced the original with it but it still doesn't play it.

edit: I'd like to note though, that I do understand why limiting video support to theora on all platforms is a good way to move forward and agree with it, though. If that's the case with the current engine, fair enough. I still need help with getting an old game with mpeg-1 video to work if possible, by converting videos or else. Additionally I just remembered that video playback didn't work for me either in Ouroboros even though that game did use theora encoded videos. So I'd like some clarifications on that too. I mean, you still haven't directly answered my original question. I'm using Is that not recent enough?

I see, thank you.
Well, I hope proper video support is at least on some sort of to do list somewhere.

Loved it. It's now one of my favorite games of all time. The only disappointment is how little all the choices ultimately matter. But it's an exciting and interesting journey nonetheless.
Add spoiler tag for Hidden:
Sacrificed Arcadia Bay. I totally loved Chloe so it was an easy decision for me as well. Didn't romance her though. Didn't romance Warren either.

I think the default should be $XDG_DATA_HOME and %AppData% with user (but not the game scripter) being able to override it with an arbitrary directory in the setup program if they desire.

Having said that, what I'm currently doing in my engine is, I'm having it discern between two installation styles: a "proper install" and an "archive dump". If no system-wide modifications have been made and all files are in one directory as would happen if you just extract stuff from an archive then it puts all the state files there as well, but if there are signs of a completed installation process (basically it'll mostly be just some special file or two in $XDG_DATA_HOME / %AppData%), then saves go to those proper system-specific directories for user data. I'll most likely add the option for the user to specify custom save path as well at some point.

Engine Development / Does video playback work on Linux?

Are videos supposed to work in the Linux port yet? I've seen some mentions of it using gstreamer when doing a cursory search but I can't even see MPEG-1 videos even though I have all the gstreamer plugins installed. Is it looking for some specific version maybe?

Congratulations to all winners, good show all around!

I want to personally praise Dislocation, which seems to not have won any popularity votes, but it definitely won my heart. The cheeky defiant intentionally idiotic humor completely won me over and firmly planted a grin on my face. In other words I loved it the most. Would love to see more of that silliness.

General Discussion / Re: Windows 10, yes or no?

Well, seeing as I've completely switched to exclusively using Linux with absolutely no regrets, it's an easy nope for me.

While hardcore platformers aren't exactly my thing, I love Dualnames' sense of style and imagination and I'm very excited to see the final result of my dear friend's project. :) I'm watching the development of this game with a lot of interest. I'd wish some luck but with these determination and skill those guys don't need it.
