Reason I ask this is simply because I'd like to know how "kynningu" (which should translate to "promotion"??) is pronounced!

Thank you!

So I am not usually the person to ask for help when it comes to computers but this one just really beats me!

Since today, I seems to not be able to get online on my DELL XPS 15 Laptop. It connects fine to the router and says it has internet access, but I can't access no websites NOR the router itself. Mind I have several times just right after connecting managed to open a website, but then it won't work after that... Also programs seems to take longer to load than they usually do. Should I assume I might have a virus? (Doing a full scan as I am writing this and nothing found yet.).

As you can see I am online with my old laptop without any issues at ALL. And all other devices I have also have internet access..
I even tried using a cabled connection with my laptop and it is still the same issue, I might be able to load a page right at the beginning then it just "cuts out".

Oh and I forgot to mention that even trying to open a local server (a WAMP Server on the same machine) in my browser is painfully slow....

Have you ever made a tribute to any of your favourite games of any kind? be it a remix of a game tune, original song, fan game, fan art etc.

Post yours here!

I myself made this half original half "remix" of one of the songs from the game Alex Kidd in Miracle World on the Sega Master System years back: Alex Kidd - Den Gruesomme (Black Metal)

For those of you who know the game let me know if you recognize parts of it or not from the actual game music :).

Now let me see everyone elses fan made stuff! :D

General Discussion / Any of you into airsoft?
« on: 08 Oct 2010, 19:46 »
And then I mean not just the airsoft guns themselves but actually are in a club doing simulations etc?

I bought a couple of rifles about a year ago (unfortnatly left them in Norway when I moved back to Wales) and planned to join a local club, though never got too it (The airsoft guns was actually bought for movie making :P). Planning on looking to find some clubs here in Wales and maybe buy some new airsoft guns or get the ones I have in Norway.

Anyone else here got FIFA 11? (PS3?)

I think they have done a HUGE step with this one from FIFA 10.
It feels alot better, plays alot better, looks alot better!
It is also fun trying out as a goal keeper.

Anyone else play it yet?
Anyone else on PS3? :)

Adventure Related Talk & Chat / AGS facts
« on: 22 Sep 2010, 01:04 »
So, I was thinking to make some sort of AGS facts feature on AGSArchives.com that will show a random fact about AGS on the website.

So why am I posting here?
Because I would love for some peeps on here to help me add some facts!
It could for example be things like:

"As of 2010 there has been made over 1500 games with AGS"
"The Adventures of Fatman is the first AGS game going commercial"
"The first AGS version was released in XXXX"

Basically anything AGS related, either funny or just informative.
Any help with this would be highly appreciated!

Thanks,
Peder Johnsen.

Please answer these questions:
1. Do you use the computer mouse with your left hand?

2. Most games that use a 2 button interface have the left button do actions and leaves the right button to "look".
As a "lefty" would you prefer this the other way? or doesn't it matter?

Thanks,
Peder Johnsen.

Beginners' Technical Questions / Remove speech text?
« on: 12 Sep 2010, 19:33 »
This is probably just a simply code?

I tried searching both the help file and the forums without any success.
But then again I am not a pro at wording myself right when searching :).

What we want is basically just to remove the speech text as we are making our own system.
All other display of text should be kept as normal.

Best regards,
Peder Johnsen.

Hi, I have just started coming back into AGS coding and started using version 3.X
I am having a problem with the PlayVideo.

I get the video file to play BUT it doesn't play in its original size, seems like it is being resized..
My game is set to 640x480 and the video file is the same resolution.

Code: Adventure Game Studio
  1. PlayVideo("logo.avi",eVideoSkipNotAllowed, 1);

Any ideas what it could be?

Best regards,
Peder Johnsen.

Like, you might love the characters in Monkey Island but would rather want to play a shooter where you fight Le Chuck and his skeletons, or maybe you wish Red Alert had been a Adventure game where youd control a group of soldiers through some sort of a mission point & click style. (Sure these are maybe bad examples but you should get the point!).

I myself, love this game called Gorky 17, but I dont like so much the fighting part of it.
And I would of loved to see it redone as a point & click 2D adventure.
Removing the monsters would ofcourse "ruin" it, but less monsters and different ways of fighting would to me be the answer. Id rather want a "real time" fight where youd have to time your choices.

Anyone else?

For some reason agsarchives.com is not working like it should on the dedicated server.
It has the same .htaccess file as on the old server, the server is set up to allow use of .htaccess files and mod_rewrite is enabled.

www.agsarchives.com - Old
new.agsarchives.com - New

The .htaccess file looks like this:
Code: Adventure Game Studio
  1. RewriteEngine On

  3. RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.agsarchives.com/$1 [r=301,nc]

On the dedicated server is does follow some of the rules, but specially urls like this:
http://www.agsarchives.com/gamecard/1125/the-hitchhikers-guide-to-the-galaxy-remake.html
It does not "like".
It basically will just open gamecard.php (it redirects too the main page because ive set it too do so if no game_id is given.).

Anyone know what might be causing this?

PS! also gotta note that it seems to just change everything to $.php
So if you type in http://new.agsarchives.com/$anyfile
where $anyfile is any file in the root folder, it will open that file..

Best regards,
Peder Johnsen.

General Discussion / Dedicated hosting
« on: 29 May 2010, 01:00 »
Hey guys!

Does any of you know of any good dedicated hosting companies out there?
Instead of waiting for something to maybe happen to the server agsarchives.com is on now I'd like to start thinking of getting a dedicated server, besides it will save me the time it would take to move everything since there arent many games i've had time to upload yet!

Best regards,

General Discussion / Is bugs getting more common?
« on: 24 May 2010, 02:14 »
Reading in the latest Red Dead Redemption thread I started thinking.
Is it starting to get more common that new games being released contains alot/some bugs?

To me it seems because its now so easy to just send out updates even on consoles that developers are pushed more to release an "unfinished" game. Almost as if they drop the testing and let the people buying the game do the testing the first months after release...

Also, anyone else here hate Activision and their slaving? lol (thinking about the recent firing of 2 top employes at Infinity Award. also how come they have such rights to fire someone? Do they own % of the companies under their belt?).

General Discussion / PS3 and FIFA 10 anyone?
« on: 02 May 2010, 18:47 »
Seeing the recent game AGS Footballer by tzachs I started wondering if maybe any of you guys/girls have FIFA 10 on the PS3?

Would be fun to play with some fellow AGS'ers sometime :).

My PSN is Arnjeir.

(Feel free to add me if you got Modern Warfare 2, LBP or any of the latest GTA games too ;))
