EDIT 2006: Not a New Game (over 3 years old)

This game is now Windows XP compatible

I have known for a while that this game has been incompatible with Windows XP, but I couldn't find the origianl source for the game.

I was searching through some old CDs the other day and underneath one I found a backup copy of the original source so I recompiled it with AGS 2.62, tested it and it seems to have fixed the game crashing at certain points.

I doubt anyone is interested playing this game anymore with the standard of games these days, but if you are bored or couldn't finish it because of the incompatibility then it is now playable.

(end edit)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have finally finished my first adventure game complete with 3D rendered backgrounds.

It's a sierra type game similar to the space quest and Liesure suit larry games.

I released a demo about a month ago that didn't make much sense, some vital characters were left out that actually helped you. I just didn't want to spoil the real game.

Hopefully this game makes more sense

You can download the game here.

I tried but: Page temporarily unavailable ...

The screenshots looked good btw. Did you use photo's for your characters?

Damn web1000 again...
For some odd reasons, web1000 hosted pages never work for me...

You can also download the game here

http://members.optushome.com.au/timosity/larrywilco_installer.exe

I don't know why web1000 doesn't work in some places
it's just a good free 50mb web space with no ads.

there's also a link from the AGS website in the medium length games section, the mirror d/l

I hope it works

I used photos for the characters faces, They are mainly my friends,
I'm even one of the characters, I pay myself out too.
The main character is based on Al Lowe (he made the Liesure suit larry games)

Nostradamus

Looking nice... help me here.. I went as far as getting the acid.. can't open that box in the screen south of the beach, can't get a bait.

Timosity

You need a key to open the box, there are two keys in the game but only one works, just look around carefully they are visible.

I've made a hint file Using AHS(AGS Hint System)  by Aki Ahonen

http://members.optushome.com.au/timosity/larrywilco_hint.csf

its only 8kb

You need the AHS program to view the file which can be downloaded from  http://ahs.shorturl.com/

its only about 390kb

hope it helps

Tim

AJA

You can find the hint files created for AHS from it's websites Hint list. Now larrywilco_hint.csf can be downloaded from there also.

I need a hint for this game.

Spoiler
where do I find the helium to fill the balloon

I don't want to download the hint file as I will be too tempted to read the whole thing.

You've probably figured it out by now but
Spoiler
There is a helium cylinder on the same screen as the pool of acid just outside the hotel you need to click on the nozzle of the cylinder

There are some funny lines in this game, especially near the end with the pick-up lines. It was short and easy, and while not all of it kept me laughing, you did manage to get a few laughs out of me (and I almost never laugh). Good job on your first game!

thanks MillsJRoss, I haven't got much feedback on my game cause I musn't be in the AGS cool group, but I've got quite a few downloads in the last couple of weeks, you're the first one that's told me you've finished it so well done.
You said it was easy, but you obviously have played a few adventure games.

I played the the Ace Quest games, and I enjoyed them, although I'm sure if any females have played them they would have been shoked, especially collecting the pads from the blue bin to get the blood sample in the first game. but the puzzles were clever.

My puzzles were not too hard but it was my first game and i wanted people to finish it just to get some feed back.

but you must have been the first to get to the pick up lines where the game takes off. "the most intense programming part with the most humor"

I guess most people are lazy and if they can't get passed the first puzzle they give up, and i'v eseen you posting for a number of games so you are a true adventure gamer.

I've been working too hard lately and haven't had much time to post or create but my next game will have to be an attention seeking game cause the amount of time i spent on background scenes without much response, I'm spoiling everyone for no reason.

Everyone download Larrywilco: Paradise lost and tell me what you think.
if you've played the game try using the hand on the chicks
but my favourite line is the one to the blonde chick when Lazza says he's James Bond

I'm more interested in what you think of the graphics although part 2 programming is more intense seeing as i learned more by then

I play alot of Ags game too I've finished

Night of the hermit
daylight
Norman Cooks (Top Game, love the backgrounds)
Pleurberg
Calsoon1
calsoon2
6 day assasin (excellent game although i finished it in half hour witht no hints)
The larry vales series (although the humor was pretty lame, like Larrywilco)
many of the R.O.N series
Q4glory 4.5 (excellent although no real effort in graphics)
and recently Chez Apa ( which was actually fun to play, ordinary graphics, but not everyone can be a star in every avenue, but great puzzles, not too hard not too easy.

Satan Quest too, very short but worth a dowload

Exile looks good too but what is the deal with that, I gave up cause it is too hard, I see that it has something to do with timing, That means it is not really an adventure game, maybe there should be a section for action adventure games, If it fits into that category, I don't really understand that game yet.

Thanks das TOBI - AS and danny

das TOBI - AS  - I tried to download The Second Moon Adventure Part One: Night and I get a message saying site unnavailable or could not be found, I'll try again later,
I visited your site and could view it but not download the game
also the link to your site from the ags games section looks like this
http://www.agsforums.com/www.tobi-as.interactive.de.vu
you forgot to get rid of the www.agsforums.com/ bit.

danny - reguards to the backgrounds I'm no artist, I just played around with corel Bryce 5, took me about three weeks to do all the backgrounds, I was at first just going to use photoshop but wanted a more realistic look. I've seen some of your work (Norman Cooks) I love it, the backgrounds are awesome, The game in general is too, I wish I had that artistic talent. The 3D charaters look great, I love the video animations too, and when he dances in his room that's just classic.
hope to see some more of your work

i'm glad you liked Norman, Timosity,..thank you!!
If you like the 3d style of things, maybe you should look into it and learn a 3dsoftware that offers you more.....
Of cource,i understand that this takes a lot of time to acomplish,..but i think that it is worth it......    :)

Bryce 5 is fairly easy to use to make landscape scenes, to make rooms you just have to create boxes or other objects and add a different texture. I'm no master at using it, but if you spend a bit of time playing around with it you'll supprise yourself.

Your link for The Second Moon Adventure Part One: Night  works for me now

I have 3D studio max but I haven't been bothered to learn it, can you recommend a 3D graphics program.
What do you use?
do you use different ones for characters and backgrounds?

hi Timosity,

QuoteI have 3D studio max but I haven't been bothered to learn it, can you recommend a 3D graphics program.

well,..i use 3d max and lightwave.
Since you want to learn a 3d software,i suggest 3d max for one simple reason:
It has the best documentation and example files than any other program around!!,
...and since you "ll be sitting and learning it on your own,(no school and stuff),you need that help files and tutorials. Also,it is (in my opinion),simpler that the rest of the professional 3d software,..but much harder than Bryce!
Why don't you give it a try,and tell me what you think?

das TOBI - AS

I tried downloading the music file and it wasn't a broken zip file
so it must have timed out or something, check the file size, if you right click on the zip file and look at properties it should be 2.74MB (2,875,589 bytes)

danny

I'll get back to you about 3ds max, I haven't got time at the moment to play around with it. And it's coming into summer in this part of the world (Sydney Australia) and it's been very hot lately. I play cricket and enjoy outdoor stuff as well as computer stuff and I use computers at work, I can get sick of staring at a screen.
Maybe have some spare time over Christmas, I'm trying to come up with an idea for a Game, Maybe play a character that is an evil secret agent, like the life of one of james bonds enemies.

Awright, I finally got around to play it :) It's a very good game, especially for a first production. However, it's still kinda hilarious how the old ripped backgrounds inspired the new ones (as the rap-building in LSL5 and sheds in LSL3) ;)

A very nice thing is that you've animated ALOT, even tho' you're fairly unexperienced in animating. A BIG applause for that!!! And although some animations are virtually or anatomically impossible, the screwball comedy feeling is only enhanced by it and I laughed out loud at some of them.

It's not all to obvious where you can go and where you can't, I had trouble finding the location of the motorcycle dude at first. Also, there's alot of search in unusual places, however, it's not very annoying, which is unsual when using that in your game design.

Puzzles are nice (but not very original) and easy, however a bit throwed in at some times. Especially the loaction of the vat, which has no logical explanation. It would have been nice if there was some reason of it's placement, whacky or not (like it's an prehistorical vat, brought up by vulcanic activity or something ;)).

The lack of music is not disturbing, but it seems somewhat empty. Also, the sudden outburst of speech when touching yourself scared the shit out of me (basically cause I have my speakers behind me but come on.. a sudden voice, which doesn't include the usual amp noise frequently featured in sound files. Do you want to give me a heartattack?! :))

Anyho', and all in all ok first production. It has some flaws, but even more good things, and it's surely among the best recent releases. The game itself starts out to look like a tribute to LSL3, but developes in a very nice direction. It woul have been nice to have a longer prolouge like why he's on the plane and similar.

And I'm stuck!
Spoiler
I'm on the ship, I've got 52 buckaroos and a camera. I sense a walking dead :)

Thanks 2ma2, good to get some more feedback, by the way I loved who killed Kenny Rogers and Permanent Daylight,
Who killed kenny rogers is one of my favourites, it took me ages to figure out a few puzzles and a fair bit of pixel hunting but great for a mags game.

Yeah my backgrounds are pretty much remade screens based on the old ones. The animations were just lazy but I thought they would be more humerous like that, The puzzles were far from original, I didn't make the puzzles too hard just so people wouldn't give up straight away and not give the game a go,

I didn't put much music in cause it wasn't original music anyway and i'm not a musician. but are there any programs to create midi music easily, i did play the piano when i was a kid and i've got a good ear, so i reckon i could put some tunes together if I new a good program.

I could have made the intro longer, it does say why he was on the plane by the way, He was travelling home from a skiing holiday. but I got sick of working on it and just wanted to release it.

The game was really done just to get a grasp on the programming and integration of the program, I'd been meaning to use it for about a year and then i finally found some spare (time a couple of months) to put it all together.

Spoiler
have a closer look at the painting on the lower deck, and you can on a canon

2ma2 - blargh

Well, unoriginal music is better than nothing at all. Remember PD ;)

Spoiler
I downloaded the hint file and found out how to get the idcard. That was a mean pixelhunting puzzle ;) That and being forced to drink numerous beers until some action took place was the things that stumbled on. Also, the way things suddenly appeared here and there due to what you've done and not was rather amusing yet a bit annoying. I've completed it now, and I must say the ending leaves it wide open for a sequel. An all in all good production, even tho' it was a bit rushed and unpolished, it's among the better short games I've played recently.

Spoiler
It was designed not to be too much of a pixel hunt,
The game was designed to use the Look cursor, if you look at the canon it tells you it's a canon but if you look at the whole shaft you get a message saying it's the nozzle of the canon

The hotspot is actually the main shaft of the canon so it's not just a couple of pixels it's quite a large area.

It's the same with the painting on the lower deck, the corner of the painting looks a bit different and you get a different message if you look in different places.

It is pixel hunting in a way but it allows you have to use the look cursor not just use the hand everywhere and hope you find something.

This is not a New Game, (over 3 years old) but it has never been compatible with Windows XP.

As I explained in the edited first post, I found the original source and was able to compile it with AGS 2.62, which seems to have fixed the game crashing.

So if you ever couldn't finish it due to the incompatibility or never heard of it, or are just bored, then it is now playable.

Thanks for that, I removed all the links to the web1000 site, which was where the site was originally hosted in 2002

The only link you need is this

or
http://timosity.dyn.ro   (which is just a redirection url to the same site)

the site doesn't allow hotlinking
