we are proud to show the first few screenshots of our game called "Noah" wich will be finished about in winter 2006, (hope so)...

the story is about a boy who need to rescue the wife from the watergod who is trapped in a giant fish...(trapped is the wrong word for it.. she was cursed to be the giant fish) <---- the very short  version, there is much more story in there...
the whole story played only at one day (but sure you will need much more time to finish the game)
its kind of a fantasy game. and it will come up with about 15 minutes of fantastic fmv-sequences wich are intro, cutscenes, ending & alternate ending, all rendered in high-quality dvd-resolution... (all characters and environtments  are modeled and animated in 3dsmax, compositing from the renderings in combustion)

more informations will come.....stay tuned ;-)

greetings,

cappella

Wow! Wow! Wow! Those look really nice!

stu

geezezuz, those screenies look sweet.

keep it up

Totoro

Ja, sieht super aus  ;D
Looks fantastic. Is it going to be a first-person adventure?

edmundito

The Tween Module now supports AGS 3.6.0!

PsychicHeart

i hope so. not to point the finger, but making a non-AGS game and posting the In production in the AGS Forums is traitorus. w8, is that even a word. arrgh to hell with it. good game anyway.
Formerly known as Flukeblake, Flukezy etc.

cappella

of course made with ags (version 2.61 then updated to 2.62)
and it will be not an first person adventure...the characters are not finished at all...

greetings..

Ubel

Wait, I'm trying to find a word to descript those screenies...
...
...
...
Ok, here it is: Wow! :o

That's just superb! Waiting for winter 2006! :D

Ozzie

You will let us wait us for long?
Well, I always think when a game gets announced that I can play it in two years....

Spectacular screens, really, it has the graphics quality of commercial adventures.
Only hope that the gameplay can hold up with it!

Well, I trust you  ;)

Are these actually 'in-game' shots?  Or are they photoshops of what the game will look like?

What's the status of the game?  You have no characters yet?  How far along are the backgrounds, the scripting, the puzzles, the music?

I updated your first post to actually show the screenies rather than just links to them.

[/moderator]

The graphics look very nice.  The depth of field on the middle one makes it look ... miniature? ... but sweet looking none-the-less.

Generally I'm not a huge fan of dominating GUIs like that, but at 800x600 resolution it's okay 'cause there's still plenty of screen real estate left over.

Snarky

Looks like the game might be first-person (hence the no characters)?

Very nice looking! Are the backgrounds pure 3D rendered, or do you touch them up in 2D as well? I ask because parts of your third background look rendered, while other parts look painted.

It looks really good! I can't wait for Winter 2006!

Nice. Can't wait to play it, or see another screenshots from that game.

Very well rendered :) Looking forward to seeing more :)

Those backgrounds are stunning. What did you use to make them, if I may ask...?

Amazing! How much are you going to charge for this?? :-)

Curry

cappella

hi,

thank you all for your great feedback about the first screenshots from Noah...
...but there wer not finished yet... much more to do...
well, we now have about 30 rooms in progress, a few of them really finished...
and we need to set up about 130 rooms...
a lot todo... (dont mention intro, cutscenes and endind, wich are very much work in designing the world, light and camera setups, creating 30 characters and about 20 different animal-species and so on...)

the next weeks i will post more screens and more informations about the game and the story ....

one of the very finished screens from the ingame grafik (scroll-screen)
"Noahs home"

...and one of the character-designs for the rendered fmv-cutscenes, the ingame grafik is a little bit different (lower resolution)
"Treefairy -fell-"

Someone asked about the price for that game when its finished :-)
The answer is : the game and speechpack will be free to download but you will have to spend 1 $ if you want to download all the videos for the cutscenes. (about 20 minutes videos)
sorry about that, but we will have to invest some money in that game (soundtrack and compositing)....
but I'm not really sure about that now...
but i promise. the rendervideos will be better than some commercial games....
:-)

greetings....

Please keep all posts about this game in one topic.

The new screens look great.  This game has much potential!  Keep up the good work.

GarageGothic

This looks absolutely wonderful. I love how you've somehow managed to create a non-rendered look. Usually I hate pre-rendered 3D, but with that texturing it almost looks hand painted. Reminds me of the Hildebrandt-brothers' style.

Rock on!

simulacra

GarageGothic: you stole my words.

I normally hate 3D renderings because of their lack of life, but your graphics look awesome. Good luck with your project.

Scummbuddy

You are a very skilled artist, I wish you well with this project.

I do have to agree with Darth that your second shot, the cave, definitly looks like a minature. I have to believe that you did create it, on the computer, but wow, it really does look like you took a picture of a minature, which is a great ability to recreate.

Nicely done.
- Oh great, I'm stuck in colonial times, tentacles are taking over the world, and now the toilets backing up.
- No, I mean it's really STUCK. Like adventure-game stuck.

Mozesh

Wow that looks just awesome, really damn realistic.
I wish you luck on the project   :)

cappella

hi everywere,

ok, we've changed the look a little bit, because we had to paint every texture by hand and it took to much of our time.
so we decided to take our digicam and make photographical textures instead. we are sorry to loose the hand-painted look, it's now more
rendered look like...but we can work faster and one screen take about 4-8 hours instead of 2-4 days...
hope you like it also...

take a look at some of the new screens...

greetings...

Ubel

Woohoo! It looks so freaking amazing! :D
I can't wait for this. Keep it up!

Mozesh

Like I said before, this looks so amazing.
Really looking forward to this!
Keep it up  ;D

skullkid22

Wow, this is amazing. Will it be freewere or commercial?

PsychicHeart

didn't you read? the game is freeware but if you want all videos it costs $1. US right?
Formerly known as Flukeblake, Flukezy etc.

cappella

the game is free...and all of the videos...are free to...maybe.... we will see...

Ubel

I certainly hope so. Well, it doesn't matter, this game looks so good I could even pay for it.

jason

:o Wow, you guys are incredibly talented artists! Amazing stuff!

Snarky

Very nice. I think the new images are actually better than the first ones you posted!

Did you think about the fact that the smoke from the chimney is going to look weird if it's completely static? Are you going to animate it?

Sinister

Very.... VERY VERY NICE!!!

my god.. you actually ruined me!!... i'll never be able to do anything close
to what you have done... simply great screens..

hope you manage to finish this by 2006. Good luck.

fovmester

This looks to professional to be real!! And you say it's freeware? Why!? You guys could make a fortune on this! Sell it for 10$ and everyone would still buy it if the story is as good as the graphics!

cappella

greetings,

thank you for all the great feedback :-)

okay, why  making an adventure game for free to everyone ?
first thing to say is that we two are very big fans from the good old adventure games. my first adventure-game was "leisure suit larry 1" (ken sent me) ;-))
i was twelve or thirteen years old and i had to answer all 3 questions to get in the game because i actually did'nt known the "alt-X" support :-)
in this period of life i learned english, because the games language was only available in english that time and i had to play that game with a english-german dictionary. now, 17 years later, we have the ability to make an adventure by ourselves, we want to make a game like the god old adventures, mixed with some myst-style elements/riddles (remember myst/riven/exile ?) but not so technical, more fantasy like. we have beautiful graphics,  stunning videos (hopefully), very good music and a great story, but its secret for the moment. :-))

anyway, what was the question ? why we are making it for free ?
perhaps more of you will play the game, BECAUSE it is FREE ! download it with your standard broadband connection (about 1 GB with all the videos) right on your big harddrive and enjoy *lol* :-)
...
or..
perhaps because we can do this...!!!

why is AGS for free ?? Why did chris jones such a thing ? he could be rich now !.......do you see ?

more to come...

Cluey

^^^ The man has a point...

Anyway, those screens look awesome, and have a very nice fantasy feel to them!

lol

I will forgive you for saying the L word this time because you'll make the game free. ;)

Oneway

Yikes! 1GB? that's gonna be one helluva download. It looks like it's worth it though. I Sure hope this will be a bit-torrent download.

If i may give you a suggestion: In a couple of weeks place a music sample on here for people to listen to. You've proven beyond a doubt that the game is going to be visually excellent, if you place a piece of music that will fit the same mood you set with the images you'll keep people hot for the game and convince them even more to play your game.

And after this game, do yourself and your team a favour and go make some huge $$$ publishing your games :)
Almost intentionally left blank.

cappella

hi,
long time has passed and now we present some new stuff and informations.
The game is still in progress, and it looks more beautiful now.
At this time, we show a few new shots from the intro and trailer of the game. (no screenshots from gameplay, only video-sequences) and some sound examples from the game (not in full quality, only medium, and no full tracks, only parts (dont want to spoil too much) with one exeption : the track of the menu (loop).
We are working on a teaser and a trailer from the game, the teaser will come in "round about" 2-3 month then some time later the trailer will follow.
Our Website from the game is still in progress, too, but stay tuned  ;)
Some facts :
it will be an epic game and will took many hours to complete.
about 15 minutes from 30 minutes of video-sequences are (almost) finished.(in highres 1024x554)
The game will have about 200 rooms. (yes, its a big game)
the soundtrack is epic, orchestral and powerful.
scripting is still in beginning yet, because we focused more on grafics, sounds and videos.
The whole game will have speech, in english and opt. in german.
and it will come probably on two DVD's

here are the sound examples...

Holy grails! That looks amazingly awesome!

WOW! im speechless! making this free is a crime. not that im complaining.  ;D
its just stunning. i have never played an adventure game with better graphics than that. im serious.

Greyarea

Wow this game looks great! Cappella, if your story is as good as your grahpics your gonna produce a classic!

The only thing that makes me worry is the interface, I didn't really enjoy most modern 3D adventures because the user interface was ill concived (anyone rember the Westeners?). Could you give us some more details about how you plan to tackel this issue? :)

cappella

#46
the interface ? i think you saw the old one on page 1 of this thread. its gone. we decided to make a small interface wich is normaly hidden, it pops out when the mousecursor goes on top of screen, will post a screenshot in a few days.
by the way, all of the screens on page 1 and 2 where totaly reworked.

@greyarea
the story is mindblowing. We did the game, because we have a really good story, perhaps one of the best in game history ever. That is why we try to make a game with nice graphics because our story needs a good enviroment and realistic animations to make the whole game more emotional, the player must feel the game !

combined double post - please do not do that!

splat44

Whoa, I am speechless in seeing those graphics.

Good luck in finishing.

i k a r i

Oh great..
It's great for me (living in Argentina) to know is going to be free, I don't think you would have sent me a copy from German or USA  ;D even if I bought it.

You're making a professional game, I hope the story and gameplay is as good as anything else!
I really wish you GOOD luck..

My God! Those FMV-shots are in class with (or even better than) Square's final fantasy FMV:s! Fucking STUNNING!

Not to complain, but I'd REALLY like to see an INGAME screenshot with a character in it. That would be so awesome!

Greyarea

Gotta agree with fovmaster, I really wanna see  a pic of what characters will look like ingame!

have you played every adventure game out there? have you played ags games like prodigal? maybe you have a brilliant story, but don't start to get arrogant.  ;D everyone thinks they're own story is the best ever.

"It's a fairy! She's naked! Curse these low-res graphics!" - Duty and Beyond

Mozesh

When you release the game I think you would need to get the best uploading space ever created, since loads of people will download this awesome looking game!

cappella

@mordalles

do you really think, i am arrogant ?  :-*
to answer your question: No, i have not played prodigal. but i have played almost all of the sierra adventures, lucasfilm-games, and square games (ff6-ff10, even the old ones, secret of mana/ everquest, and many many more. my first one was larry 1, and my last ff10. I'm an old adventure-junkee  ;D
maybe our story is not the best in game history, but trust me, it worth to get a look inside, when its ready.
And i am not arrogant, but want to promotion our game  ;)

hehe, well, if I'm blown away by the story, then no. hehe.

but when you say on a forum mostly made out of other game makers that your story is better than anything they've done before, then i don't see how you are promoting it.Ã,  ;D especially when you haven't even played their games. so you wouldn't know, would you.

but dont mind me, it looks awesome.

"It's a fairy! She's naked! Curse these low-res graphics!" - Duty and Beyond

yea, maybe you're right with that. I have to play more games from here. if i only had more time  :(

Darth Mandarb

If you guys want to keep on with that topic, please take it into PMs ... otherwise, let's get back on topic.

Greyarea

Hrmm just a little technical question. I know that all the titanic true belivers might wanna shoot me for this, but I'm a noob so be nice :D. Can AGS handel a game of this magnitued? I mean 1GB (with the FMVs and all the scenes) worth of game seems a little much, or is it such a powerfull engien?  ???

cosmicr

any chance at seeing some wireframe images? did you mention what software/modeller you're using to create these great pics?

ciborium

Everything looks and sounds great!

But... Please tell me the English we see and hear in the game will be better than it is in your posts.

Assuming the amount of text is proportional to the quality graphics and storyline you have,
then you will probably need a team of proof-readers.

Of course, if you only have speech...

I think he has a whole forum of willing proof readers, so it's not that big an issue.

cappella

yes, dont worry, the english in the game is approved, and sorry for my bad english.
the graphics and movies were made in 3dsmax, (sometimes modo), and compositing in combustion.
in a few months the official website goes online, and there you can go in the "making of" gallery to view some wireframes.
