Finally, I have completed Labyrinth in full!Ã,
Labyrinth, a game of challenge, wisdom, and luck.
Ã,  Ã,  Ã, Can you survive deadly monsters that are just as hungry as you?Ã,  Can you outlive the parasites you accidently ingest?Ã,  Can you find fire, or will you wander in total darkness?Ã,  Will you escape?Ã,  Or will you die?

Your life is in your hands, your life is in your weapons, your life is in your wits, your life is your to take or keep...The question is, are you strong enough to hold it...

Here's a mirror (thanks to Brisby) in case geocities craps out:

Ah, now this is much better! Congrats, you've made the game much more interesting and fun. :)

Spoiler
I love the Godly interventions, the new "choose weapon" screen, and your riddles!

Pity that if you click "don't skip intro", you still see the "Skip intro?" GUI, albeit greyed out... ::)

Thank you, I didn't realize about the "skip intro" gui, oh well, its avoidable eh?

BTW:  if anyone could make a mirror, I would very highly appreciate it, because geocities keeps crapping out.  thanks in advance.

Big whoops. I mirrored it... but you have to debug it. Save/load doesn't work.

It's supposed to save automatically when I quit, right? That doesn't happen.

I disabled the Save/Load function for the sake of the game itself.  Despite strong opposition to this that I know I'll get, I think the game should be played differently every time, even if it means giving up sometimes.  Sorry to those who wanted to save/load.

I know!  I hate geocities!  It craps out all the time!  Tell you guys what, if anyone has room for a 2197 kb file to be sent to their e-mail, I'll distribute it like that.  PM me with your e-mail address if you want it through mail, but it is rather big.

BURN GEOCITIES!!!

Akumayo, what do you mean? In the readme you said - and I applauded it, I cheered it!* - that the game saved when we quit and loaded when we got back. Impossible to cheat, possible to leave and come back. I hate being forced to play a game in one sitting! That's the only reason I haven't played Helm's OROW game, and it appears it'll be the reason I won't touch this one again...

Anyway: http://aafiles.bicycle-for-slugs.org/full/Labyrinth/Labyrinth%20Final%20Version.rar

* It's a wonderful feature that all non-adventure games should have, IMO. I was mentally praising you for doing this when I read the readme... and now I find out you removed it. :P

Terribly sorry, but it just couldn't stay, thank you very very very much for the mirror, and I am sorry you cannot continue to find peril in the Labyrinth  :'( .

<sigh> Once again a good idea of game design goes past ignored, rendering a game less of what it could be.

Ok, I'll shut up now.

EDIT - You know, if you change your mind about it, and you should, you could just release a patch with Clickteam's Patch Maker. People could install it if they wanted to. Minimum hassle all around.

Well, maybe you should make two challenge modes, one with saving when you quit the game and one without.
I think that's a good compromise, isn't it?  :P
Robot Porno,   Uh   Uh!

I'm sorry Rui, I just won't do it.  Call me stubborn or just plain stupid if it fits you, but I refuse to change my stance on the matter.  Labyrinth should be an evolving game that constantly varies.  I'm sorry, I really am, but that is where I stand.

Rui 'Trovatore' Pires

I don't want to prolong this, and I'm sure you don't either... but by your last post I think you misunderstood something. The system you yourseld had proposed was just as evolving and it would vary as constantly. Even if the player did cheat by copying the save file, like they can do in, say, any ASCII roguelike, every time they loaded the game it would still show up differently - just like in a roguelike. It wouldn't make the game any less varied, and it would certainly wouldn't make it less evolving, it would just make it possible for people not to be forced to play it in one sitting.

But like I said - I don't wanna prolong this, I just wanted to clarify this point.

Iiiiyaaah.......
Ã,  Ã,  I understand your point perfectly well, but even if I go back and re-re-work the system so Save/Load is again available, I don't change much, and I lose a lot of time off my next game (because believe it or not, the Labyrinth save/load is hard for me).Ã,  I really understand why you want the save/load, but I feel that it is somewhat unneeded, and too time consuming to be worth what is produced.Ã,  Sorry.

Is that just because of the save/load function?!Ã,  Or am I missing something?
"Power is not a means - it is an end."

Rui 'Trovatore' Pires

Heh. It's just because of the save/load. I tend to dramatise when I find something I don't like, and I hate not being able to at least resume where I left off.

Oh, well that makes me feel much better!  I was afraid I'd really screwed up somewhere  :) .
