It's been a bit of a sad week for sport with football legend George Best and rally champion Richard Burns both passing away on Friday.

This week it'd be nice to see some of the world's great sports stars immortalised as sprites, so the theme is:

Sporting Legends

Draw a sporting legend (living or dead) either doing what they do best or, for an added twist, something you wouldn't expect to see them doing (i.e. Mike Tyson as a ballerina!)

Rules

Size: Max 150 x 200px
Colors: Any

This is my first sprite jam so if it's crap let me know and I'll think of something else :P

Fortunatle I can modify my post and not high jack further this thread!

Anyway I was reffering to the goal in the goal in the final of '88 (I think), where he indeed won the world cup using apparently his hand. I'm not an expert either at graphics (that's why I call this post high-jacking) either at sports, but I believe that it was the world cup and it was against The Dutches (?) correct if I'm wrong. And I also believe that a lot of people refere to him as "The hand of God".

Just that...

He is a ledgend indeed. I was not being sarcastic on that point. It's just that for me he is not anymore... :(

PS. The sprite is actually really great! I think you really captured Maradonnas expression very well (<- no sarcasm here either).

PS2. I did say sorry twice, didn't eye?

buloght, ure pic of maradona, along with krysis' king sprite and bb's pirate lady sprite, are my favourites ive seen in these sprite jams.

in the spirit of making everyone feel better, i have broken the rules and decided to draw a TRUE sporting legend, even though this person never won a single title as far as i know.

Well, yeah, max, not min. Makes it really awkward and a bit hard to see. Easier to see with the forum's blue background than that color...

It is, indeed! Shut up everybody! The rule limits the "max size"!  :D

And the hand of God was in the semi-finals of the World Cup, Mexico 1996.  :)

Sorry about the delay, it's been a busy week :(

Nice sprites everyone! This week's winner is buloght with his Maradona sprite. I know I'm English and should probably hate the guy, but we've beaten Argentina a couple of times recently so I guess I can accept the fact that he was a great player ;)

Mordalles Anna Kournikova was nice too, and who wouldn't recognise Petteri's Paavo Nurmi! :P
