This is yet another tune contest. If you have any measure of musical ability whatsoever, please enter so that we can have a veritable plethora of entries. The contest will run from today until the 12th of October, unless extenuating circumstances demand an extension.

Here's the theme...

-= The Afterlife =-[/b]

Depict musically the first few (or many, if you wish) moments in the consciousness of a person who has just awakened in the afterlife. This need not be the afterlife as depicted in any real life tradition. In fact, I'm hoping that entrants will be creative and depict their own spin on what life after death may hold in store for us. And if you feel so inclined, you may write a few words about what you have composed. If any of this is unclear, good! Vagueness is all right. Just write some damned music for me! And as always... Be creative!

Go!

I was upset I missed out on the last one, but this topic sounds great too. I'll be sure to give it a try, but not sure what will come of it.

"veritable plethora"! I love it! I'm gonna start using that. Anyway, expect something from me, even if it doesn't 'revolve around a central theme' ;)

Thought I'd enter my first tune made with Renoise, and I think I've found a new favorite program.  Anyway, this is supposed to be a futuristic take on the trip through the tunnel many people have claimed to see when dying, but from an end credits for a movie viewpoint.

I jammed with the vsti's a bit so I apologize if it sounds rather strange for an afterlife tune :).  I had to rar it since my ftp host doesn't like sound files.

This is the highly subjective sound of waking up in the afterlife... with a hangover:

Is my entry.

It's my first song with vocals, so don't laugh ;) .
The pretty vague lyrics mix elements from Edgar Allan Poe's Masque of the Red Death (http://www.online-literature.com/Poe/36/) with modern living. The theme of the story is that, how rich and famous you might be, you won't escape death. Nature always gets you.
In my lyrics however, the rich people are punished for living the rich life.
When I sing "Look where it got us" they realise they should've lived a better life, etc. So that's where the afterlife part comes in. The meaning of the police siren, apart from blending in nicely is to let the listener hear that "hell" where the rich snobs go to is just like our world, only for eternity... this last part is pretty vague, but what the hell.Ã,  ;)

Made with Ableton Live, Reason, Guitar Rig 2, EZdrummer, and a bunch of reverb/delay/compression VST's.

This is turning out well. :)

maaark, would you mind posting the lyrics to your song or PMing them to me? I'd like some official lyrics to read. :)

Obviously, now we have to kill you.
We can't just let people who lie all the time walk this earth.

I don't really have the time or energy right now to comment on each entry, so I'll just say a few practically pointless words. I enjoyed all the pieces immensely. Each one was great in its own way, so in a sense, you're all winners. But really, BunnyMilk is the winner. His entry gave me the strongest sense of AFTERLIFEOSITY, so he wins a little more than everyone else.

Also, I'm probably not going to enter the next contest, unless it's the greatest topic ever.
