help with bg values + composition + anything else

Ok, so FINALLY got some time to rework the sketch.



I tried to implement a couple of your suggestions, like the shadow, a little gradient, the hill, darkened the house, et.c. I tried fixing the rightmost edge of the wall, but it actually looked worse straight, so I'll probably just leave it, or rework the whole wall.
Anyway, I like this sketch, but I STILL can't decide if I like the first version shadow the best. I HATE creative decisions, but I think this is one I have to do on my own. Thanks again for all your input, advice, suggestions and paintovers.

When you're dealing with a loose, cartoony style the most important thing is to maintain consistency WITHIN that style, and I think you've done a good job of that.  The bare section along the left of the hill is a distraction, though.  You might consider adding a couple of gravestones or something there (family plots) and showing a line of fencing coming around the back of the house.
