Man, this thread is obviously well needed. Hope people read this one... *coughunliketherulesthreadcough* (lol)

Recommened File Type:
PNG
JPG
GIF
Do not try and show us BMP's! They are too big! It takes forever to view them...

The Coding:
1. Simply do this (without spacing):

[ url ]http://www.yoursitegoeshere.com[ /url ]

...that will make a link. Whatever is inbetween [ URL ] and [ /URL ] will be shown.
2. Or if you want a link name and not show all the link junk (like "Download Here"), do this:

[ url=http://blarblar ]Download Here[ /url ]

Easy.

The Lazy-man Way to Upload Pics:
Go here to read Neole's sweet AGS contribution and quickly upload your pics!
*which reminds me to stop using it so much...

The TXT Trick:
The other way is to link from your site. But if it doesn't allow what they call "hot linking", like geocities, I've learned a cool trick for them tight-asses.
What I do is when I upload a PNG or JPG image into my filemanager, I rename it to TXT. That way they can be shown here. My avatar is a good example. Check it's properties.
(NOTE: Some browsers might open them as TXT files instead of images)

The Anonymizer Way:
There is a cool thing called Anonymizer that you can also use for your site that doesn't allow hotlinking. Just simply put http://invis.free.anonymizer.com before the images address. Most people use this trick.

Hope this helps you.

Just to add a how to post an image so you can see it, not just a link

without the spaces

Jimi

example of EXACTLY what you would type (but use the right link)

Code: ags

Um, I may be acting stupid here, but how do you take a screenshot?

Scummbuddy

with ags, you could

 if (keycode==434) SaveScreenShot("scrnshot.bmp");  // F12

usually the same for all games.  unless the coder messes with it.

or just play with the printscreen button on your keyboard.
- Oh great, I'm stuck in colonial times, tentacles are taking over the world, and now the toilets backing up.
- No, I mean it's really STUCK. Like adventure-game stuck.

You mean pressing F12 will take a screenshot?

next to your "enter" key to your right, you will have print screen/sysreg, press and hold shift and printscreen, then paste into mspaint or whatever paint tool you use

Paranoia
edit:
if it sez print screen on its own, you don't need to press shift

scotch

Mine says both and I don't have to press shift ;)

Snake

ALT + PRT SCRN works fine for me.

Let's take JPG out from recommended filetypes... They look awful.

Like me :) Well, I haven't messed with that line, so it works like it's made to, but the other keys are a bit re-arranged...

Taking screenshots with AGS wont show the cursor. Pressing ALT+PrintScreen will copy the active window, pressing PrintScreen only will capture the whole screen. If the game is fullscreen, it should not have diffrence.
I used to make games but then I took an IRC in the knee.

AND if you are using Paint and you convert your screen to a GIF it will look crap! So find your self a better program, Paint is for kids who wants to spend time before Barney starts at the TV.  ;D

Paint is good for basic drawing, but when it comes to shading of large pictures or converting to GIF, not good. Photoshop is good

I think a good blast on the ol' MSPaint once in a while is refreshing.
Besides, not EVERYONE can afford photoshop.

I think paint is pretty cool. I use paint to make the basis of all my backgrounds before I upload the into The Gimp to add special stuff.

Gimp is a cool program. It can do EVERYTHING photoshop can do and it is absolutely FREE!

So what are you waiting for? Open a new browser window and download it at www.gimp.org! IT"S TOTALLY FREE!
