The AGS Panel is a team of AGS forum veterans who play all of the games here, and give them ratings from one to five cups. The rating system is as follows:
1 CupNot serious entertainment
2 CupsA reasonable game, worth a try
3 CupsA good game, worth playing
4 CupsA great game, well worth your time
5 CupsAn outstanding, must-play game!
Feel free to disagree with the panel's rating, and please don't be offended if you think your game has been under-rated!

(Why has my game been rated 1 cup?)

Close window
If your game has been rated 1 cup, please don't be offended! It's common for your first game release to get a 1-cup rating, due to the game having a lack of polish and flair -- which is understandable, because you're just getting started!

Please understand that the main purpose of the ratings is to help potential game players find high quality, bug-free games to play. You've probably learnt a lot about AGS as a result of making your first game -- so why not use that knowledge to start afresh, and do even better with your next game!

Terror of the Vampire impresses with a well thought out story, fleshed out and interesting characters (the cook is the best!) and beautiful pixelart. And on top of that are some awesome graphics effects that are all done by manipulating pixels by code and not prerendered effects from whatever graphics manipulation program you have, all done by code. Sometimes our hero, Dr. Ego Goodmind is a bit too wordy in his character and the beginning of the game seems a bit aimless, but that's exactly how Dr. Ego Goodmind feels at this point while the story slowly build up. The actionpacked soundtrack reminds of the good old SNES aera games (just like the pixel effects do!) and the puzzles are varied and enganging! A small masterpiece in Adventure game development with quite some playtime, done in only one month, WOW!
Also the download of the game features concept art, character sketches, a cover poster (or poster cover) and some! What do you want more????

Also a Longplay of Terror of the Vampire can be found here (5+ parts over ~1 hour !!!

Kickass graphics and animations, excellent dialogs (if sometimes long), good puzzles and catchy soundtrack - the game has it all! Every character has a distinctive personality and I liked their evolution. Well done Scavenger, Eggie and EHCB.

Awesome, just awesome! Lovely art, lovely story, great puzzles and interesting game play and effects. (nod)
For me this game suffered of a lack of reactions/reply from hotspots, as I wanted to leave and couldn't understand why it just wouldn't leave. Also had some problem getting Ego into the kitchen as I clicked he would walk there, but then didn't exit to the kitchen.
I ended up doing stuff without knowing why I was doing them, and I never did get my supper! But was nice to be able to do the stuff "out of order"...

This game has truly fantastic story and atmosphere, and lots of heart to it, and despite being a humorous game with some very funny dialogues, the ending felt surprisingly touching and thought-provoking.

Well, there is no doubt in my mind this game is at such a high standard, and perhaps I was lucky to play this after bugs had been ironed out but I will ignore them and focus on your game.
The graphics are wonderfully charming, and so much of it too. As with the graphics the characters and their dialogs fit the bill so perfectly.
I assume you made the music custom for the game? and its great, but I thought some of music distracted away from the atmosphere of the game, I think if you toned down the beats of one or two of them they would set more into the atmosphere of the game.
The work gone into this astounds me considering the time it had to be done in, and some of the effects seem to really be pushing AGS such as that amazing glass refraction.. just wow. I cant tell you how long i spend scrutinizing that refraction ;)
The composition of the rooms are top notch, and I really admire and am inspired by how you use the foreground layers to help compose your scenes.

It was really a fun game and I liked everything about it. All the game-breaking bugs have been fixed in the latest release and the graphics, sounds, story, ending, all were good. Maybe slightly too much dialogue but it fits the character as well.

Awesome game, and very funny. Graphics are stellar, animations are amazing, pretty much everything is amazing here. It's also got something to say, and a heart, beneath the cartoon exterior, which you can't say about every game. Five overweight rodents out of five! :D

A fine game with poignant message, lots of lovely animations and the characters are great so they are so they are.

A great game, with plenty of funny moments. The graphics and animations are fantastic, especially the character portraits. The puzzles are also very good and the story is actually fairly poignant beneath the jokes. Despite the bugs present on first release, the game still delivers in an enjoyable and very funny way.

This was a fun little game that does have a few bugs here and there that can crash the game but it is possible to work around them and finish the game.

Quite funny game here. I didn't get far (due to some dang bug crashing and shutting the game down). But otherwise it was good. Interesting spin as well. Hopefully a fixed up version might appear soon so I can see the ending (and any other funny stuff). Good effort from Scavenger here.
