I'm having a problem where I can not run programs. When I try to run a program they appear in the task manager Processes tab but they do not end up in the Applications tab. I sometimes get the error message "Login process has failed to create the security options dialog". The problem seems to be related to Donna Avenger of Blood. I had been playing the game for several days before the problem showed up. The problem started after a Flash update. Uninstalling Flash did not fix the problem. Only a System Restore to a time before Donna A of B was installed fixes the problem.  Reinstalling Donna A of B brings the problem back. I have gone through several restore and install cycles and the problem always returns when Donna is installed. I'm running Vista Home Premium on an HP Pavilion Laptop. The only other thing I can think to mention is I got an error when I started Donna about the terminus file. At this point I'm just not going to install Donna anymore and see if the problem returns with my current setup.

This sounds more like a general problem with your laptop.
When an AGS game comes as an Installer, I'll install it in a temporary folder, copy all needed files to my games folder, then uninstall it. Still, the installation is usually not intrusive.

I googled the error you got and here are a few solutions:

It sounds like Donna A of B merely triggered the problem, not cause it.

The best advice of course is to get rid of Vista and switch to 7 immediately. Vista is a useless resource hog and there's no reason at all to stick to it.
