I'm just throwing this out there as I would find this very useful. If it's not useful to others or this is a technical impossibility then just ignore this.

Native Theora video support with the ability to:

- play next frame
- play previous frame
- loop automatically
- check the frame playing
- change the frame to whatever
- get maximum frames of said file
- resize

Also if this video plugin could be used so that hotspots and possibly sprites could be layered on top of it along the mouse pointer, well that would be nice.

Just throwing this out there.  :)

I've steered away from adding Theora support to AGS so far because it is still in beta. Once a final, official release of Theora 1.0 is made, I'll look into adding it into AGS.

In the meantime, there's scotch's Theora plugin which you can use to play Theora videos.

I can understand that. Although the compatibility shouldn't be a problem. Here's an excerpt from Theora's homepage:

Q. Can I use it right now?
The bitstream format is frozen since the release of Theora alpha 3. So, files produced by the alpha 3 reference encoder will be supported by all future decoders. This means you can safely use Theora to encode your content right now.

While Theora is labelled beta it has been in production use in many systems for over 3 years and is completely safe to adopt.

EDIT: I just noticed that it only preserves the ability to play older videos. My bad. Well, hopefully they don't take another 3 years to get to 1.0.

The final 1.0 release has been released:

Adding support would be the beezkneez!  ;)

Thanks for the heads-up, I think it's about time that this was properly integrated into AGS :)
