It starts up ok.....then when i try to make a new game it comes up saying would i like to save my game before exiting!! i dont want to exit!! and when i click on cancel or the x it wont go away so i have to ctrl alt delete and exit AGS.

Could anyone tell me why this is happening?

Ok, why don't you take us through, step by step, what you're trying to do and where the problem occurs.

Scorpio_Phoenix

Ok, i click on AGS to start it. then it asks if i want to start a new game, load an existing game, or load a recently edited game. i choose to start a new game and click ok........then i choose the default game, and click next, then i choose the resolution and click ok, then a box comes up asking me if i want to save before exiting. i can choose yes, no or cancel. no matter how many times i click on cancel the box keeps coming back straight away, until i get so annoyed i just click no, and AGS closes......happens everytime i try to use it!

Any help?

Er, delete everything, download anew, and try again?

Scorpio_Phoenix

tried, does the same......

i had re-done your procedure but nothing want to save a game.

maybe try to delete (or just move) all temporary files that are somehow connected or had been created with (by) AGS ?

it sounds like, there is somewhere a game(-template?)  already opened and now, doing a new one, this "old" (in ram) game wants to be saved first.....?

SSH

I suspect you are using a game template that is from an older version of AGS, so it has to recompile it, which is why it is asking to save? Which version are you using?

Well the file is called ags_271........so is that 2.7? or 7.1? i really have no idea......

By any chance have you tried saving it and then loading the saved game?  It shouldn't do that...but...it might work?

Pumaman

I can't imagine why it is trying to exit after doing that -- are you sure there's nothing resting on your keyboard and holding down ESC or anything like that.

You can try doing as monkey suggests, and see if you can choose "Load an existing game" and then find the new game that it created for you last time.

No there is nothing on my keyboard.....and i have tried to do everything but nothing works, maybe my computer is just stupid, needs a good kick!  ;D

Did you already try to install different versions of AGS? Maybe it's a rare bug...

Or maybe AGS doesn't support your OS. Do you have Windows, Linux, Macintosh, or something else? If you have Linux, try finding the Linux AGS version.

This might work, I usually make those silly mistakes myself, but I never find them if I haven't met them before....

For the record, there is no Mac or Linux version of the AGS Editor (yet?), only the runtime engine so you can play games.

I thought there was a Linux version too? ???

Sorry for the confusion! :-[

No, only the game engine is available for Linux and Fruit computers, not the editor.

In that case, I really don't know what to suggest. Very odd...
