v2.56.612 - 2.56 Final: Released August 9th, 2003
* Updated with AGS v2.56 Final changes (Chris)

AGS 2.56 Final Runtime for Linux has been posted on the AGS Downloads page. At this time only statically linked binaries are provided. Later today I will post the dynamically linked version. From now on, the dynamically linked and statically linked binary packages will be separate to shorten the download time as no user that I know of needs the dynamically linked binaries. (679k download as opposed to 1.4mb download)

Thought I had forgotten didn't you? Anyway, a completely revamped AGS Linux website is now available along with updated binaries:

I still don't understand how the whole dynamic thing works. what's the difference between static and dynamic in for dummies terms? Also, I noticed that in the 2.55's setup window said 2.4.etc....

It's a long, long, long story, suffice to say it's not for technical reasons really, and it's not important. (Which is why I'm splitting up the packages).

Yeah, I keep forgetting to update the version number in the setup program, since it's a seperate piece of code that I rarely change I always forget about it.
