Title: AGS on a Flash Drive
Post by: Nickydude on Sat 06/03/2010 21:15:55
Is it possible to install AGS on a portable Flash Drive? If so would I just change the install path when installing?  :)

I would think, though I'm not sure, that you could just use the install-less, advanced user version...here (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/AGS-3.1.2-SP1.rar).

IIRC there are some complications running the editor from portable media..though I could be mistaken on that point.

Running AGS itself from a USB drive should be ok, but be careful if you save your actual game files there; make regular backups because there have been some instances of the USB drive being disconnected before the game files have been properly saved, which can corrupt the files.

Thanks guys. :)

Pumaman, would I just copy the installed folder for the hard drive over to the flash drive? Would that work?

That should work, yes. It's not particularly recommended, but if you want to be able to use AGS temporarily on another PC without having to install it, it should be ok.
