Just downloaded and installed AGS for the first time, only to run into this little prob upon launch. >_< The load screen just stays there and I have to kill it in Task Manager. I have my .Net installed (2 and 3.5) so I'm not sure what exactly else could be the problem? I'm running XP SP3.

Edit: The 3.2 Beta works. So it's just a 3.1.2 SP1 thing?

It seems, that you did not have all files.

The error messages says that the 'AGS.Native.dll' file is missing.

Try to install it new, or try to extract all files from the archive.

I installed it twice, one with and without demo files (just in case). I checked and the AGS.Native.dll IS in the folder (3.1.2.82) and I replaced all the files once again with the archive version. It doesn't seem to be asking for that version though, it's asking for 0.0.0.0 it seems?

Hmm that's strange. The editor must be dependant on some sort of DLL that 99% of people already have installed anyway; unhelpfully, the error message doesn't specify what it is.

Has anyone else had this problem with 3.1.2 SP1?

the ninja cucumber

Yes! Exactly this problem. I'm also running XP SP3.
It's strange because the 3.1.2 SP1 worked well and now crashes.
I have recently installed .net 3.5SP1, could be an incompatibility?

Pumaman

Can you open the Event Log (under Administrative Tools in Control Panel) and see if any errors are generated there when this error happens?

the ninja cucumber

Sorry, I did not find any errors in the Event Log.
As mastastealth has said, the error pops up and the load screen freezes until I kill it with Task Manager, but nothing appears on Event Log.

Pumaman

Can you try out the 3.2 RC 2 release from the beta thread and see if you get the problem with that too?

the ninja cucumber

The 3.2 RC 2 runs well. I have also tried an old version I had installed, 3.1.1 and it works.
The problem is only with the 3.1.2 SP1.

Pumaman

Hmm that's strange. It might be worth trying to un-install AGS 3.1.2 SP1 and re-install it, but I'm not sure why this would be happening...
